One of the best parts of summer is getting swept up by
a great book while soaking in the sun. Whether you head
to the beach to read in the sand or bring a page-turner
to your local park or playground, it’s a fun way to lose
track of time.
Want some summer reading inspiration? Check
out what’s on your neighbors’ shelves (page 10). If you
find yourself craving a good read while at Astoria Park
or Astoria Heights Playground, you’re in luck — both
public spaces are home to a Little Free Library, where
you can take a book or leave a book if you’re so inclined
(page 36).
Summer’s also a great time to indulge in the sweeter
parts of western Queens. First, grab a treat at Cakes by
Nerwan (page 14). Then, snag some locally made honey
from Astor Apiaries (page 24). You can find vegan sweets
as part of No. 5’s extensive menu (page 32).
