in-house and made in Astoria. The materials
come from Mexico, but the feather down
comes from New York and the pillows are
made locally.
The candles displayed on shelves on the
right side of the space, along with other
lotions and potions, are all local, save the
Cozier candles from Los Angeles. The
Apotheke candles and lotions are from
Brooklyn, and the shorter, colorful candles
are made by a local, Brastislav Glisic from
Aloha NYC, specifically for them. “INCASA
Astoria” is even printed on the label.
“I think that clients like that it has ‘Astoria’ in
the name,” Heius said. “They take pride in the
neighborhood, so that’s why we want to involve
a lot more businesses. We try to help other
businesses, many that are online. We want to
host them here in our shop as a way to give opportunities
to people who cannot participate in
fairs or other organizations in the area.”
Although they’ve only been open a few
months, INCASA has received positive
feedback from locals, and Heius hopes to
keep the momentum going. “Hopefully we
do more of it, is the idea,” she said. “Bigger
space, different location. Of course, we want
to be here in the neighborhood. We love it.”
