First responders rescued
two dozen people
from an elevator that fell
several feet in Sunset
Park’s Industry City on
May 10.
A mix of civilians,
US Marshals and NYPD
offi cers packed into the
freight elevator of the
commercial complex’s
Building Six, likely
heading to the offi ces
they have recently occupied
at 34 34th St. in
January — a move from
their Manhattan offi ces
in early 2021.
The group remained
mostly unharmed with
only one elevator passenger
— an NYPD offi cer
— reporting minor back
pain and was taken to
NYU Langone in Sunset
Park, a police spokesperson
said.
Passengers were only
trapped in the elevator
for a short while, an
FDNY spokesperson told
Brooklyn Paper, with
fi refi ghters responding
to the call shortly after
10 am and releasing the
group before the clock
struck 10:30 am.
