7. MINI-GLOBAL MASHUP #3: YIDDISH
MEETS ARGENTINA
Common Ground features artists of
seemingly different disciplines, practices
or cultural identities with this new series.
The event brings together two global
music artists along with accompanists for
an afternoon of music, conversation and
exploration. This show will feature Lorin
Sklamberg, the lead singer of the Grammy
Award-winning Jewish American roots
band the Klezmatics, and Sofia Rei, an
Argentinian vocalist, songwriter, producer
and educator. Special playlists were curated
for this event.

8. FLORAL DESIGN: HOLIDAY
CENTERPIECE
Try your hand at creating your own
holiday centerpiece. Participants will be
introduced to tips and techniques used by
pros and take home their own centerpiece.
This workshop takes place outdoors, and
all materials and garden admission are
included. Registration is required, but
drop-in participants are welcome upon
availability.

9. TEA MIXER COURSE
Join MisFits Nutrition for their Tea Mixer
Class, with lessons curated for all skill
levels. The tea mixer is a 60-minute
class that walks students through the tea
lifecycle from explaining what’s in the tea
and the benefits of mixing the perfect cup
of our refreshing teas. The class will also
explain how various blends can be prepared.
You will learn different techniques, and
types of tea that we have to offer.

10. COMPOST BUILD COMMUNITY
VOLUNTEER DAYS
Join the NYC Compost Project staff to help
with on-site compost builds and learn how
composted food scraps nourish the soil. You
will help combine over 4,000 lbs of Queensgenerated
food scraps with equal parts QBG
horticulture waste. Volunteers can help by
bringing their own food scraps to the build!
All skill levels are welcome to participate.

See some of the Cemetery Spaces here in
Queens with this book talk with Richard
Panchyk. Queens has an extensive history,
and with that extensive history comes an
extensive history of those who have passed.
This book talk program will have you listen
to Richard Panchyk as he discusses his book
going over the cemeteries of Queens. Dead
Queens is a visual journey through more
than thirty of the borough’s cemeteries in
220 fascinating photographs.

Join this hockey watch party and help fight
hunger in Queens. Watch the Rangers vs.
Islanders game, hang out with NY hockey
fans and help raise money to support
organizations like Astoria Food Pantry and
Frontline Foods Queens fight hunger. There
will also be raffles, prizes and giveaways
throughout the night.
