Purse snatcher gets into scuffle

Police need the public’s assistance
in finding a robber who unsuccessfully
tried stealing a woman’s purse in
Flushing last week.
On Sunday, June 2, at around 9
p.m., an unidentified man snatched a
26-year-old woman’s purse off of her
arm in front of a Macy’s on Roosevelt
Avenue. Police from the 109th Precinct
reported that the suspect then fled
westbound on Roosevelt Avenue.
According to authorities, the
victim’s 25-year-old male friend
allegedly chased after the suspect and
recovered the purse during a brief
scuffle. Cops said that the suspect fled
eastbound on Roosevelt Avenue.
Police describe the suspect as a dark
complexioned male between 20 and 25
years old and is approximately 5 feet,
10 inches. He was last seen wearing a
dark-colored hooded sweater, a white
shirt, blue jeans and red sneakers.

Astoria
Car crashes into sushi restaurant

Cops are looking for a group of
seven who attacked and robbed a pair
of men in an Astoria public park last
month.
Authorities say that at 11:30 p.m.
on May 23, a 28-year-old man and 25-
year-old man were inside Rainey Park,
located at 34th Avenue and Vernon
Boulevard, when they were approached
by a group of unknown individuals
who asked them for the time.
When they tried to tell the group
what time it was, police noted, at least
one of the suspects attacked the 28-
year-old, punching him repeatedly.
Law enforcement sources said the
attackers then demanded property
from the victims. They took the 28-yearold
victim’s smart watch, wallet, debit
card, credit cards, and his Samsung
cellphone, and the 25-year-old victim’s
iPhone and credit cards before fleeing
the scene.
The 28-year-old victim went to a local
hospital on his own to get treatment for
a broken jaw. The incident was later
reported to the 114th Precinct.
On June 5, the NYPD released video
of the suspects, who are described as
five men and two women:

Jamaica
Shooting injures one man

The NYPD is looking for a shooter
who injured a man on a Jamaica
street on Sunday night.
Police say that at around 10:13
p.m. on June 9, a 22-year-old man
was shot by an unknown individual
on 160th Street near 108th Avenue.
Sources say that the victim was
struck once in his left cheek.
Officers from the 103rd Precinct
and EMS responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to Jamaica
Hospital in stable condition.
At this time, police could not
confirm what the motive behind the
shooting or provide a description of
the suspect.
No arrests have been made
at this time. The investigation
is ongoing.

Forest Hills
Mom with baby punches woman on train

Detectives are looking for a young
mother who, while carrying her baby,
punched a woman in the face over a
run-in on board a train in Forest Hills
earlier this year.
The NYPD released on June 10
video footage of the mom responsible
for the April 15 assault at the 71-
Continental Avenues subway station.
At 9 a.m. on the day of the attack,
police said, the 53-year-old victim
was boarding a Manhattan-bound
E train when she accidentally came
into contact with the mother, who was
exiting the train.
Seconds later, law enforcement
sources said, the mother ran back
into the car and punched the victim
in the face, then exited from the
train on foot.
The victim suffered a bruise to her
left eye, but remained on board the
train. Cops said she later called 911
and sought treatment for her injuries
at NewYork-Presbyterian Lower
Manhattan Hospital.
The incident was reported to the
112th Precinct and the NYPD Transit
Bureau.
Police described the assailant as a
white woman with a light complexion
believed to be 30 years of age, who was
last seen wearing a white baseball
cap, a pink shirt and dark pants
while pushing a stroller and carrying
an infant.
In the video, she can bee seen
holding her child while pushing a
button for an elevator on the platform.
