St. Sebastian Catholic Academy paves the way to academic
success for your child. Our academy serves the parishes of
Queen of Angels, St. Teresa, BVM Help of Christians, and St.
Sebastian.
We offer FREE 3K and PreK for All programs for our littlest
learners. The children have access to our outdoor play
space, receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch, and learn
through play experiences in the classroom.
We provide a values-centered curriculum based on the Next
Generation Standards for grades Kindergarten through 8.
Students are immersed in an academically challenging
environment where they develop spiritually, intellectually,
physically, and socially.
Additional learning experiences include Library/Media,
STEM, art, music, Spanish, physical education, and health.
This year we were able to reach 1:1 technology access in the
classroom for the students in grades K through 8.
For students who need additional support we have Title I
Literacy and Math, AIS, SETSS, Speech, Occupational
Therapy, and counseling.
We continue to follow all of the COVID-19 guidelines set forth
by the CDC, DOHMH and the Diocese of Brooklyn. We have
had very successful in-person instruction through this
pandemic and will continue to do all we can to keep Catholic
education strong and prosperous.
Faith…We at SFACA strive to lead a way of life rooted in Christ through a
Catholic vision that provides inspiration and identity to all members of our
community, SFACA believes in the dignity of all human beings and supports a
Christian-laden environment that builds respectful relationships throughout our
school. Catholic teachings, principles, values, and social justice themes are fully
integrated into our curriculum and instructional activities to empower our
students to be leaders of tomorrow.
Service…SFACA has a strong desire to serve others. As socially conscious
individuals our students recognize the need for change. Through school-wide
service projects, they are making the world a better place. Our school community
has partnered with Heifer International, Water.org, City Harvest, and
Marguerite’s Pantry to make a difference in local and worldwide communities.
Excellence…SFACA believes that it is our responsibility to provide innovative,
research-based solutions to help children learn. In order to accomplish this, we
have shifted our focus towards the New Your State Next Generation Learning
Standards, the Five Core Clusters of Social Emotional Competencies, and the
Arts. At the beginning of each day, we ask ourselves, what do our students need
to know, what do our students need to be critical-thinkers, and what skills are
required for our students to become both personally and professional successful
in the future.
A Caring Community…because they grow up in a caring community, the
graduates of SFACA receive the rich Gospel values, extensive knowledge, and
essential skills that can enable them to become productive and influential citizens
in our worldwide community. In Affair of the Heart by Patricia Jordan, we
learned that “one winter morning in 1208, St. Francis of Assisi heard the words of
the Gospel not only with his ears, but with his heart, and it changed his life
forever.” It is our hope that for our students, an SFACA education will make their
lives and the lives of those they touch better in every community.
