St. Michael’s Catholic Academy
is enriched by and reflects
the cultural diversity of the parishes
of St. John Vianney, and St.
Michael’s. 2022 begins our 171st
year providing quality Catholic
education to the families of
Flushing and the surrounding
community. The mission of St.
Michael’s Academy is to promote
each student’s intellectual and
spiritual growth grounded in a
deepening relationship with Jesus
Christ. Honoring each child’s
individual needs, the Academy
motivates the student to achieve
their potential in an atmosphere
conducive to academic excellence,
holistic growth and social
responsibility.
Intellectual growth is stimulated
with academic programs
offered at the Academy. St. Michael’s
is an original member of
the nationwide Two-Way Immersion
Network of Catholic Schools
(TWIN-CS) sponsored by the
Roche Center for Catholic Education
at Boston College providing
bilingual education in English
and Mandarin beginning in Kindergarten
through eighth grade.
The Roche Center for Education
is a leader in bilingual education.
St. Michael’s is the only school in
the New York City area currently
participating in the TWIN-CS
program.
New York State Next Generation
standards are supported with
technology and support offered
by St. John’s University Project
TIE (Training Innovative Educators)
and Curriculum Leaders
Training (CLT’s) programs preparing
faculty to pursue higher
academic standards integrated
with Catholic identity as part of
the daily curriculum. Qualifying
students receive support through
Title I in ESL, Math, Reading and
Counseling. A Learning Lab, Resource
Room and speech therapy
are also available on site at the
Academy.
St. Michael’s offers our students
a fully equipped science lab
and a new state-of-the-art Media
Center enhancing the learning
experience for all. The Academy
is proud to offer 1 to 1 Chromebook
instruction for all of our
students.
Spiritual growth is fostered by
our strong Catholic Identity. We
accept children of all faiths and
are inclusive with all liturgical
and para-liturgical celebrations.
Para-liturgical celebrations include
but are not limited to the
Sacrament of Penance, May Devotions,
the Stations of the Cross,
Adoration, Benediction and others.
Sacramental preparation is
coordinated with religious education.
St. Michael’s Catholic Academy
is open year-around with
a six-week summer program offered
to students in the Diocese
and surrounding communities.
Free breakfast and lunch is provided
to all of our students. St.
Michael’s has both 4 year old Pre-
K and 3 year old Pre-K. Both of
these programs are free.
Located in the heart of downtown
Flushing, St. Michael’s
Catholic Academy is easily accessible
from the Number 7 subway
line and several New York City
bus lines.
