Police search for suspect in road rage robbery
RIDGEWOOD — Detectives have
identified one of two men wanted in
connection with a road rage robbery in
Ridgewood last week.
The 104th Precinct posted a photo
to its Facebook page on Jan. 10 of the
suspect who is wanted in connection
with the Jan. 8 incident that occurred
at the corner of 60th Place and Bleecker
Street. Police did not disclose the
perpetrator’s name.
At about 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 8, police
sources said the unidentified victim
was driving his vehicle through the
intersection when the suspect and an
unidentified cohort followed him in
their vehicle.
Upon reaching the intersection,
the victim stopped his car and
the suspects followed suit. Law
enforcement sources said the
perpetrators then exited their car and
confronted the driver.
According to police, the pictured
suspect bashed the driver in the head
with a metal baton, causing a laceration
and swelling.
The suspect’s partner then swung
a knife at the driver and missed,
police said.
Authorities said a perpetrator then
smashed the driver’s windshield with
his baton, removed the
car keys and fled with his
partner in an unknown
direction.
Officers from the
104th Precinct and EMS
units responded to the
scene. The injured driver was treated
for his injuries.
Cops described both assailants as
Hispanic men, one of whom stands
5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 200
pounds, while his partner stands 5 feet,
10 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.

Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle
ASTORIA — A medical examiner
determined on Jan. 14 that an
88-year-old man who was fatally
struck by a vehicle as he crossed
an Astoria street last weekend had
died from the injuries he sustained
in the incident.
Miguel Hernandez, 88, of 33rd
Street in Astoria, was struck at
the corner of Crescent Street and
Broadway at 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 11,
police reported.
According to law enforcement
sources, Hernandez was walking
across the intersection when he
was hit by a 2016 Toyota sedan
operated by a 40-year-old man
heading southbound on the one-way
Crescent Street.
The driver of the sedan stayed on
the scene after hitting Hernandez.
Officers from the 114th Precinct
responded to a 911 call about the
incident and found Hernandez lying
near the intersection half-conscious
with head injuries.
Emergency Medical Services
arrived and took Hernandez to
Elmhurst Hospital Center to be
treated for his injuries; however,
he succumbed at the hospital on
Jan. 12. Two days later, the medical
examiner confirmed that Hernandez
died from the injuries he sustained
in the collision.
