LET US HEAR FROM YOU
BRONX TIMES REPORTER, J BTR UNE 21-27, 2019 67
BY ARLENE GRAUER
Just a reminder that our June meeting
will be in the GYM of the Villa Maria
Academy on Wednesday, June 26.
We have a very busy spring with
the arrival of Fordham University’s
BX8 proposed route.
Photo courtesy of the Country Club Civic Association
crew and sailing teams
and the impending
bus route changes. At
our June meeting we
will have a presentation
from Fordham on
the plans for the property
and how it will
be operated. Also, we
will have the opportunity
to ask questions and perhaps
give them some ideas on how we can
work together. Nanor Pogosian, manager,
from the Pelham Bay Library will
speak about the wonderful programs
that the library has to offer.
Finally, we will also have time to
discuss the proposed new bus routes.
By the time this column is published
the MTA Open House will have occurred.
The current proposal is to
shorten the route of the BX8 making
the last stop on Layton near Dean Avenue.
The BX24 will pick-up the remainder
of that route to Locust Point.
In order to speed up the proposed BX24
route, the bus would no longer travel
on Rawlings Avenue and Country Club
Road but upon entering Country Club,
make a left turn on Kennellworth, a
right on Ampere, and a right on Stadium
Avenue.
It would then continue
on Stadium Avenue
eventually to Locust
Point. The same route
would be used for the return
trip, thus making
it a two-way route.
If you missed the
open house, you still
have the opportunity
to comment through the end of June.
Go to: new.mta.info/BronxBusRedesign.
Scroll below the ‘We Want Your
Feedback’ section and past the survey
buttons and click on the words in blue
‘submit your comment here.’ I urge everyone
to take advantage of this opportunity,
respond with a positive note, respond
with a negative note, or respond
with a suggestion on an alternative improvement.
This is your chance to be
heard by the MTA.
We will not meet in July and August.
Our fall meeting will be September
15. We hope to have our fall cleanup
and triangle planting the third
weekend in October.
Hope to see you all on June 26th
at the Villa Maria Academy GYM, located
at 3335 Country Club Road. We’ll
have some end-of-season refreshments
to go along with the long agenda. The
