I Heart Worms! — Join the
Queens Botanical Garden for
another one of their family
winter workshops. The “I Heart
Worms!” session will introduce
kids to Red Wigglers, which
are worms used for indoor
composting. This workshop will
teach attendees how to create
an indoor compost bin to take
home as well. Children ages 5
and over are welcome.
When: Thursday, Feb. 21, from 1
p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Winter Break Family
Workshop — The Voelker Orth
Museum will have a winter
break family workshop, which
offers fantasy terrariums for
participants. This hands-on
workshop teaches attendees

terrarium and how to create
them.

Shenanigans — Do you

Midwinter Recess — Want

in the woodlands.

Garden — Spring is just around
the corner, and there’s no
better time to start planning
for your outdoor garden than
now. Join Fred Gerber for a
cup of tea and biscuits as he
discusses the best ways to
prepare. The session can be
helpful for a diverse set of
gardening needs. Gerber will
cover tips for those who have
a terrace, yard or even just a
sunny window. Whether you
have an experienced green
thumb or are new to the game,
come this Saturday for this
informative session at Voelker
Orth Museum.

Fanike African Dance Troupe
— Jamaica Center for Arts and
Learning welcomes you to a
night of Fanike African dance,
drumming and a celebration

Fanike African Dance Troupe
will perform its signature
libation, a drumming and
dance performance. This
performance honors their
ancestors of the African
Diaspora.

Daniel Wnukowski — Polish-
Canadian pianist Daniel
Wnukowski will perform at
Queens College for the Karol
Rathaus Festival, which honors
the musician’s work. Rathaus,
the college’s fi rst professor of
composition had a fl ourishing
career in Berlin. However, in
1932 he had to fl ee the country
due to political circumstances
in Germany. He will perform the
composer’s Piano Concerto with
The Orchestra Now under Leon
Botstein in LeFrak Concert Hall
at Queens College. The festival
also includes the 1936 British
drama Broken Blossoms and a
lecture by Grammy awardwinning
record producer Dr.
Michael Haas.

Multicultural Celebration
— Central Astoria LDC has a
multicultural celebration that
will take participants from China
to Mexico all in one day. The

Lauren Krass — Lauren Krass, a
Charleston native and stand-up
comedian, will perform at Q.E.D
in Astoria. She has performed
all over the city including places
such as, The Creek and the
Cave, Broadway Comedy Club,
Greenwich Village Comedy Club
and The Laughing Devil. She has
also been featured in events
such as: Charleston Comedy
Festival, The Annapolis Comedy
Festival, and She Devil Comedy
Festival.
