Red Envelope Show, Jan.
5 to Jan. 27: This Flushing
Town Hall exhibition honors
the Year of the Pig with
work by professional visual
artists and community
members. It’s an homage to
the red celebration envelopes
the Chinese community
distributes during the Lunar
New Year. All pieces are
for sale. Many envelopes
include a special gift for only
the buyers to see. Flushing

First Look, Jan. 11 to
Jan. 21: The eighth-annual
promotion screens 40 brand
new, innovative films at the
Museum of the Moving Image.
The lineup includes features,
shorts, documentaries, and
narratives from China,

Mexico, and other countries.

by Long Island City resident
Eileen Coyne. The art is on
view and for sale through
June. “I’m a figurative
painter most interested in
capturing the humanity in
every living creature, no
matter two or four legs,”

GingerBread Lane
Giveaway, Jan. 21 at 2
p.m.: GingerBread Lane
is a multi-thousand-pound
construction consisting of
many, many buildings made
of ginger bread, icing, and
candy. Unveiled on Nov. 10,
2018, it will be broken down,
and the public will be able to
take home chunks on Jan. 21.
The event will be hosted at
