 WALKING AGAIN!!! HOORAY!!!
There are an estimated 20,000 New York State
residents who are amputees. Most of them have
had amputations because of diabetes and
vascular problems. About a quarter of them had
 congenital deformities or suffered accidents.
East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp.
 (www.ec-op.com), with its headquarters
in Deer Park, and satellite offices
 throughout NYC including Queens,
has grown into the largest orthotic/
 prosthetic manufacturer, distributor,
and service provider in New York.
 With some diversified 200 employees,
many of whom work on site at hospitals
 and physician practices throughout
the greater New York metro region,
Vincent A. Benenati and his brother
Larry look back at when they began
their enterprise almost 25 years ago in
a one room Elmont storefront. Vincent
 A. Benenati explains, “I predicted that
there would be vast product innovation
and technology advances so that patients
who needed orthotics and prosthetics could
obtain a much improved quality of life.”
“This is today’s reality,” Larry Benenati continues,
“as the devices we make offer much better
performance and make a huge difference
 in addressing a patient’s disability.”
East Coast O & P specializes in upper and lower extremity
prosthetics, along with sports bracing, fracture bracing
 and miscellaneous durable medical equipment
(DME). Vincent emphasizes that it’s the company’s
dedication to service that has helped fuel the
 company’s growth.
One recent example of progress which
has inspired Vincent has been the NYRC
 Smart Brace (www.nyrcbrace.com)
program used for scoliosis patients. East
Coast has emerged as a “center” for
scoliosis patients providing this new bracing
to more than 400 patients a year. Vincent
explains, “Just twenty years ago, scoliosis
treatment often meant years of suffering,
limitations, and even a stigma among
 patients. Today’s bracing technology has
made the treatment regimen very tolerable,
where the patient has a positive, optimistic
 outlook on their future.”
Larry Benenati concludes that one of the best
benefits for O&P patients is the way in which
East Coast O & P can turn around the order for
their required device within hours. “It was ten and
twenty years ago when patients would be confined
in bed for days waiting for their device. Often service
One of East Coast O&P’s "star" patients, Shannon Smith
joined by East Coast CEO Vincent Benenati (left) and East
 Coast Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist Christopher Berger
is now overnight, or even the same day
 through the advanced robotic technology
 we deploy.”
 the faster you
