Brown. According to trial testimony, Lonnie Miller, 26, of 119th Avenue, and an unapprehended accomplice attacked the victim, Calvin Ogletree, then 26, and beat him to the ground in front of a location at the corner of Linden Boulevard and 200th Street on the afternoon of Jan. 6, 2012. Miller then stood over the victim, pulled out a .25 caliber handgun and fi red once into the right side of Ogletree’s head. The victim later underwent surgery to remove fragments of the bullet from his brain, but continues to suffer residual effects from the shooting. Miller was convicted in May 2015 of fi rst-degree assault following a jury trial presided over by Queens Supreme Court Justice Stephen Knopf. Brown said the lengthy prison term imposed is more than warranted given the defendant’s actions. “The defendant had already taken part in beating his victim when he stood over him and shot the defenseless man in the head,” Brown said. 104TH PRECINCT Elderly Middle Village woman takes fall, then run over by SUV: police Walking across a busy street proved deadly for a 76-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a SUV in Middle Village on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Giovanna Livolsi of 74th Street died of injuries she sustained after being hit by a 2014 Ford Escape along Metropolitan Avenue between 74th and 75th streets at 3:30 p.m. According to police, Livolsi was attempting to cross Metropolitan Avenue in the middle of the block when she suddenly fell in front of the vehicle traveling westbound on the avenue. The vehicle reportedly ran over the fallen victim; the driver, apparently not realizing that he struck someone, continued heading west on Metropolitan Avenue until being alerted to what happened. The driver returned to the scene and contacted 911; offi cers from the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the location. Paramedics rushed Livolsi to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. No charges have been fi led, and an investigation is ongoing, police said. 105TH PRECINCT Crook tried to steal ATM from Laurelton grocery store: NYPD Police are looking for a man wanted for the attempted theft of an entire ATM machine in a Laurelton meat market. The unidentifi ed man entered Merrick Meat Farms at 234-21 Merrick Boulevard through a back door at 1:40 a.m. on Dec. 18, according to authorities. After unsuccessfully attempting to remove an ATM from the location, he fl ed the store without gaining any proceeds from the incident. Far Rockaway man charged after crash that left pedestrian seriously injured A 23-year-old Far Rockaway man was charged with driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene after hitting a young woman crossing the street earlier this month, prosecutors said. Police said Denzel Watson was behind the wheel of a white 2013 Ford Mustang with black racing stripes eastbound on Seagirt Boulevard on Dec. 13 at 12:35 p.m. At the intersection of Seagirt Blvd. and Beach 19th Street, authorities said, Watson allegedly struck a 21-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing the street with family members. When police arrived at the scene, it was reported, they found the victim unconscious and transported her to a Queens hospital to treat sustained injuries, including a fractured hip and femur, head injuries and facial fractures. Reportedly, she remains in critical condition. At the scene, police also discovered what appeared to be pieces of a side rear view mirror on the ground. Less than 30 minutes after the incident, the white Ford Mustang was allegedly stopped by police near the Queens/Nassau border. Prosecutors said the car appeared to have front end damage and was missing parts of the sideview mirror on the passenger side. Reportedly, Watson — who was behind the wheel — could not produce a valid driver’s license. “The defendant is accused of striking a pedestrian and driving away immediately afterwards without exchanging information or checking to see if the victim needed medical assistance, thus leaving the critically injured victim and her family to fend for themselves,” said Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. “The defendant, who is also charged with driving without a valid license, now faces serious charges.” Watson was arraigned Tuesday on a two-count criminal complaint charging him with leaving the scene without reporting and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He faces up to four years behind bars if convicted.
