Designated the largest celebrated Columbus Day parade in Queens, the celebration, hosted by the Howard Beach Columbus Day Foundation, will begin at noon on Cross Bay Boulevard and 156th Avenue. Floats, high school marching bands, local volunteer fire departments and ambulance corps, along with other groups, will walk through the neighborhood to greet community members. The grand marshals for this year’s parade will be Jamie J. Gigantello, vicar for development for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn; Rocco DiRico, the deputy commissioner of sanitation; and Inspector John Corbisiero of the NYPD.
