Police search for woman in
connection with possible hate
crime in Long Island City
Th e NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is
investigating an anti-Asian incident that
occurred in Long Island City in May.
It was around noon on May 22 when a
video surveillance camera captured images
of a 55-year-old woman while she was
walking her dog in front of 24-16 Queens
Plaza South, when she was approached by
an unidentifi ed woman who splashed her
with water from a bottle she was carrying.
Th e assailant then allegedly made an
anti-Asian statement, according to police.
Th e suspect fl ed in an unknown direction
and the victim was not injured,
police said.
Th e suspect is described as a woman in
her early 20s, with an average build and
short, black hair. She was last seen wearing
a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses,
a blue shirt, gray pants and gray sneakers.

Three suspects sought in
connection with violent
Jamaica robberies
Police are searching for three men in
connection with a pair of robberies that
occurred in Jamaica on July 15.
Authorities say that at around 3:15
p.m., three men approached a 36-yearold
man on the Manhattan-bound platform
of the Sutphin Boulevard and
Hillside Avenue F Train subway station.
Th e three men punched and kicked the
victim and ran off with his bag, AirPods
and his wallet, which contained credit
cards and $100 in cash, police said.
Th e victim did not go to the hospital,
according to police.
Th e trio allegedly struck again just
before 5 p.m. as they approached a
58-year-old man on 87th Street before
punching and kicking him. Th e suspects
removed two gold bracelets and
the victim’s wallet, which contained credit
cards, a debit card and $60 in cash,
investigators said.
EMS responded to the scene and transported
the man to an area hospital for a
small laceration to his head, according to
authorities.
Th e trio was caught on surveillance
video, which shows the three men walking
aft er the second attack. One suspect
can be seen shirtless and wearing gray
shorts, red sneakers and a face mask.
Another suspect was wearing a white
T-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and
a blue mask. A third man could be seen
maskless, wearing dark sweatpants and
dark sneakers.

Cops cuff suspect after
brave mom saves son
during brazen kidnapping
attempt in Richmond Hill
A quick-thinking mom rescued her
5-year-old son during an attempted kidnapping
in Richmond Hill on Th ursday,
July 15, and police have arrested one of
the two men believed to be connected to
the incident.
Th e incident began Th ursday evening
when a four-door maroon sedan —
believed to be an older model
— can be seen on video surveillance
pulling up in front of 117-
02 Hillside Ave. near Myrtle
Avenue around 8 p.m. on July
15.
Th e driver can be seen jumping
out of the car and sprinting
toward the sidewalk, where
he grabbed the young boy and
threw him into the car. Th e
boy’s mother can be seen racing
to the car and with the help
of two of her children, they
pulled the boy through the
open front passenger window.
Several men can be seen
walking toward the car as the driver hits
the gas heading southbound on Hillside
Avenue and then westbound on Jamaica
Avenue, according to the NYPD.
James McGonagle, 24, of Parsons
Boulevard, near the Pomonok Houses,
was cuff ed on the evening of Friday, July
16, and charged with attempted kidnapping,
reckless endangerment and acting
in a manner injurious to a child less than
17, according to the NYPD.
