Something amazin’ is brewing in
Flushing.
Internationally renowned brewing
company Mikkeller will open up a brewery,
bar-restaurant and beer shop at the
New York Mets’ Citi Field this fall. Th e
Denmark-based company took to Th e 7
Line Army’s Orange and Blue Th ing podcast
on July 6 to make the announcement.
Th e brewery, Mikkeller NYC, will be
the company’s fi rst East Coast location
and 32nd location worldwide. Plans for
the 10,000-square-foot space include a
brewery, restaurant, bar and shop.
Th e 4,000-square-foot brewery production
area will include a 20-barrel brewhouse,
single-batch fermenters and a canning
line. Beer enthusiasts can also take
advantage of public tours of the location’s
brewery operations.
In the bar-restaurant area, customers
can expect to fi nd 60 beers on tap and
food from Mikkeller NYC’s in-house
kitchen, as well as items from year-round
partners Fuku and Pat LaFrieda Meat
Purveyors. Also located in the space will
be a merchandise and beer shop.
Mikkeller NYC will be located along
126th Street near the right fi eld gate. It
will be open year-round.
At the beginning of the baseball season,
Mikkeller launched a pair of “ballpark
beers,” Henry Hops and Say Hey
Sally, available for purchase at Citi Field.
Founder Mikkel Borg Bjergsø said the
partnership piqued his interest in the
neighborhood.
“Since launching Henry and Sally at
Citi Field in April, the Mikkeller team
and I have come to appreciate how baseball
fans in Flushing are quite similar to
Mikkeller fans around the world,” Bjergsø
said. “Devotees like Th e 7 Line Army are
fanatical about the quality and performance
of their team and their community.
Th ey invest time, eff ort and emotion
into supporting the orange and blue
and we look forward to sharing this passion
when they visit Mikkeller Brewing
NYC. Our new location at Citi Field provides
convenient year-round access for
craft beer and food fans from the fi ve boroughs
and beyond. We are thrilled to be
associated with this wonderful fan base,
the Flushing and Willets Points neighborhoods
and New York City.”
Th e project will be overseen by Jim
Raras Jr., Mikkeller NYC’s executive vice
president.
