Head over to the Long Island City Conception Emerging Artists Festival from June 6 to 13 to experience upand coming artists’ works, a live performance piece by New York City street artist “Optimo” and more. The festival is located at Dutch Kills, 27-24 Jackson Ave., Long Island City, and will be curated by Tribeca Art Event’s Rachel Wilkins and Mike Wolf. The event is free. Commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day at Whitestone Memorial Field on Friday, June 6. The Field is located at 149th Street and 15th Drive and the celebration begins at 11 a.m. There will be a luncheon for all veterans at the Whitestone VFW Post 4787 located at 19-12 149th Street in Whitestone. SATURDAY, JUNE 7 The Friends of the Ridgewood Library will be hosting “Fun Day at the Ridgewood Library” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free face painting for children, a visit by Bobo the Hobo, Ridgewood’s most Famous Clown, hot dogs, cupcakes, brownies, soda and water for sale, musical entertainment, a fl ea market with nearly 30 tables of new and gently used items and more. The Ridgewood Library is located on Madison Street between Fairview and Forest avenues. There will be no rain date. Come to the Lawrence Cemetery at the corner of 216th Street and 42nd Avenue at noon to join the Long Island Seekers Club as they guide participants through a live investigation explaining the tools and techniques used to discover paranormal activity. The event will be rescheduled if it rains. The cost is $8 for Bayside Historical Society members and $10 for non-BHS members. Free food will be distributed to those who are in need at the grand opening of the Greater Springfi eld Community Church’s Food Pantry Ministry from 9 to 10 a.m., while supplies last. Our Lady’s Catholic Academy at 109- 55 128th St., South Ozone Park, will host the second annual Culture Fest. The festival will feature multicultural music and dances from various cultures, fun games, amusement park rides, food vendors, raffl es and much more. Free admission. CultureFest is from noon to 8:00 p.m. For adults that need a daily dose of laughter, the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps presents “Laughter is the Best Medicine,” a comedy show fundraising event. The event will also have a live auction by Marc Zakarin. All the proceeds benefi t the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. General admission is $20. Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua In honor of the Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua, the Holy Family Church, located at 175-20 74th Ave. in Flushing, invites the community to come and see one of three holy relics brought from Italy by Father Paolo Floretta on Wednesday, June 11. The relics will honor Saint Anthony, who was the saint of fi nding lost things and was known for his preaching and knowledge of scripture.
