Memorial Day weekend serves as the unoffi cial start of summer, and even though the weather felt more like autumn, that didn’t stop hundreds of people from turning out at each march to applaud those who served in defense of our country. Veterans posts across Queens participated in each of the marches along with various youth groups, community organizations and elected offi cials. Spectators proudly waved American fl ags and cheered on the parade participants as they marched. Th e Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Parade, as always, was one to remember. Mayor Bill de Blasio led a contingent of elected offi cials who participated in the march, which is considered the largest of its kind in the country. Vallo Transportation also contributed to the eff ort by transporting three busloads full of band members to the Little Neck-Douglaston march.
