Villa Vosilla, last of the authentic Italian resorts of its style, is celebrating its 50th Golden ANNIVERSARY ~ “A Taste of Italy in the Catskills”! This coincides with the Italian Government designating 2013 “The Year of Italian Culture in America” ~ Anno Della Cultura Italiana! For 50 years, Villa Vosilla, 4 generations working-family owned/operated, has been a Celebration of Italian Food, Music and Song promoting the Italian Culture throughout its “Taste of Italy in the Catskills” Social Season~An Italian Experience for Everyone. Generations of guests continue traveling to this Italian institution for Comforting Italian Food and Italian Entertainment reflecting the “heart of Italy”. Italian immigrants arrived in America with an intense desire to be Americans. As many did not pass on the Italian customs, the culture slowly began to diminish. Every country has a wealth of culture, and although people should be proud to be Americans, they should pass on their customs and traditions. This uniqueness is what America is all about-being proud of where they are, but not forgetting where they came from. The 4th generation, giving the resort a very personal touch, continues Italian family traditions and keeps the heritage alive. Some establishments may incorporate an Italian special event to their themes or have retained an Italian name. But the Family Italian Resorts of the Villa Style, worked and owned by family members, are only a faded memory. Some resorts were not winterized; some families lost interest. Resorts, forced to sell, were replaced with commercial properties, timeshares, or non for profit groups. The Family is doing something special to have survived. The Villa is not just a business; it is the family’s home, and guests are welcomed to feel right at home. This unique gem attributes its success to its dedication to its guests, and to working hard together as a family for the family legacy. With a circle of family and friends it continues to flourish, not many businesses in hospitality can say that.
