Francia and others for an afternoon of poetry readings. The Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning is proud to be launching their new exhibit “JamaicaFlux: Workspace and Windows 2016,” a large-scale street installation project featuring site-specifi c artwork installed throughout various locations in Jamaica. In celebration of the opening, there will be a reception at the center. The event is scheduled to begin with a 2 p.m. press conference and conclude by 8 p.m. with an artist’s reception. In celebration of Trinity Lutheran Church’s 125th anniversary, the church will be having a free concert featuring the Astoria Choir and a performance art act by the Greater Astoria Historical Society that will take you back to 1890 on a time travel adventure. The show will feature a premiere of “Cosmic Collision” by student composer Sasha Radosav, a string quartet and a student ensemble performing Steve Reich’s “Eight Lines.” The performance will be from 2 to 3 p.m. and is free with general museum admission. Corpus Christi Church will present “Broadway Comes to Woodside,” a benefi t concert in memory of local army veteran John H. Mark, who died suddenly last year. Broadway entertainers from the shows “Young Frankenstein,” “White Christmas,” “Billy Elliot,” “Jersey Boys” and “Sweeney Todd” are scheduled to appear. Artist Services Program welcomes you to join them for Dinner Without an Agenda, a chance to ask questions, share your work, and have dinner with Allison Davis and nine other artists. The opportunity to attend this event can be won by submitting an answer to an essay question on the Queens Museum’s website. Ten artists will be chosen based on their answers and invited to a 7 to 9 p.m. dinner. Submissions will be accepted until April 13 and the dinner will be hosted at 88-19 Roosevelt Ave. in Jackson Heights. The Middle Village library, 72-31 Metropolitan Ave., will hold a discussion from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on the book “Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation” by Joseph J. Ellis.
