According to court records, on or around Aug. 15, 2014, at the West Lawrence Care Center at 14-10 Seagirt Blvd., Marie Jeanty, a certified nurse aide, instructed the 80-yearold victim to move so that she could change the resident’s clothing and bed linens. Jeanty allegedly then pushed and hit the resident multiple times in the arm and shoulder with a closed fist and forcibly pushed her into the side of the bed rail, causing the victim’s face to hit the rail. This resulted in the resident suffering from a black eye and significant bruising and swelling to her left arm, right temporal area and right orbital area, according to authorities. Her injuries were treated at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. Jeanty, who no longer works at the nursing home, has been charged with assault in the second degree; endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person, or an incompetent or physically disabled person in the second degree; endangering the welfare of an incompetent Compiled by Cristabelle Tumola, Anthony Giudice and Angy Altamirano or physically disabled person; and willful violation of health laws. If convicted, she faces up to seven years in state prison. Jeanty pleaded not guilty during her arraignment on April 2 in Queens Criminal Court and was released without bail. 103rd Precinct Jamaica, Hollis Park Gardens, Hollis and Lakewood Jamaica man convicted in shooting death of newlywed during 2011 robbery A 23-year-old Jamaica man was found guilty for his role in the deadly shooting and robbery of a young woman as she was walking home with her new husband in Hollis four years ago, prosecutors said. Rohan R. Hankerson was convicted on April 1 of one count of second-degree murder, one count of firstdegree robbery, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and eight counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office. According to trial testimony, Rabia Mohammed, 23, and her husband of five months were walking on 204th Street near 93rd Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. on March 13, 2011, when Hankerson’s alleged accomplices — Ian R. Green, Tiyquon Hodges and Corey Brown — came up behind the couple. Two of those men allegedly threw Mohammed’s husband to the ground and one said to her, “Give me the bag.” Brown struggled with the woman for her purse, and when she screamed Green pulled out a gun and fatally shot her in the chest. Hankerson was the getaway driver for the group, according to prosecutors. In May 2013, Green, 21, of Queens, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree manslaughter, four counts of first-degree robbery (for his involvement in four other robberies that occurred between March 4, 2011, and March 17, 2011) and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree manslaughter, according to the district attorney’s office. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Brown, 21, of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery in March 2014 and was sentenced to 23 years in prison. Hodges, 20, of Jamaica, is currently awaiting trial on second-degree murder and other charges for his alleged involvement in the shooting incident. Hankerson’s sentencing is set for May 6. He faces up to 49 years to life in prison. 106th Precinct South central Queens Suspect robs Hilton near JFK: NYPD Police are looking for a man who is suspected of stealing $500 from a Hilton Garden Inn near JFK Airport. The robbery occurred at a hotel at 148-18 134th St., near S. Conduit Avenue in Jamaica, at about 6:50 p.m. on March 30. The suspect entered the Hilton and showed a note to the front desk employee demanding cash. He then took $500 before fleeing in an unknown direction, police said. Authorities described the suspect as a black man, about 25 to 35 years old, standing between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). 107th Precinct Fresh Meadows, Cunningham Heights, Hilltop Village, Electchester and Pomonok Two dead in fiery crash In front of Queens high school Two people were killed after their car crashed into scaffolding in front of Thomas A. Edison High School and burst into flames, police said. A Nissan Maxima was traveling eastbound on the Grand Central Parkway service road about 4:25 a.m. on April 5 when it lost control coming off the roadway, authorities said. The vehicle then struck scaffolding located outside of the school at 65-65 84th Ave. and the car caught on fire. According to witnesses the vehicle was driving at a high speed when it crashed, police said. Once responding FDNY personnel were able to extinguish the flames, officers found two people inside the vehicle. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. Police have released video footage of the fake officer in the act and say he has robbed six separate victims between October and March in Middle Village, Woodside, Elmhurst and Corona. All of the victims were traveling on foot when they were stopped by the suspect described as Hispanic or white, about 30 to 40 years old and with a heavy build, authorities said. He then searched the victim and removed property from them before fleeing with a second suspect who was waiting in a black Lincoln Town Car or dark van, police said. The two suspects are wanted in the following incidents: On Oct. 29, at about 1:30 a.m., at the corner of 82nd Street and Furmanville Avenue, $80 was taken from a 21-year-old man. On Nov. 27, at about 1:30 a.m., at the corner of James Avenue and 88th Street, a 40-year-old man’s wallet containing a debit card was taken. On Dec. 11, at about 12:50 a.m. in front of 39-66 65th St., a 39-year-old man’s wallet containing $17 was taken. On Feb. 14, at about 4:45 a.m. in front of 102-26 45th Ave., a 37-year-old man’s wallet containing a debit card and a cellphone were taken. On Feb. 26, at about 12:30 a.m. in front of 49-07 103rd St., a 33-year-old man’s wallet containing $650 and debit and credit cards were taken.
