New bilingual medical center opens in Flushing

Residents who are not fl uent English
speakers now have another option
to receive medical care. Th e new
Downtown Flushing Multispeciality
Offi ce consists of bilingual doctors on
their staff who speak Chinese, Korean,
and various other languages.
With the opening of the new offi ce,
patients will have an easier time fi nding
a doctor that can communicate with
whatever language he or she speaks.
Th e offi ce also off ers cardiology, surgery,
orthopedics and sports medicine
services.
“We created this offi ce to serve the
needs of the Asian American community
here and throughout the borough.
Th e new site is yet another way we are
connecting the people of Queens to the
world-class physicians in their community,”
Said Stephen Rimar, MD, the
regional medical director of NewYork-
Presbyterian Medical Group Queens.
In addition to the diverse culture
that the medical offi ce instills, it provides
high-quality specialty healthcare
services. Th is includes diagnostic testing
and consultation. Services such as
cardiology, electrophysiology, vascular
medicine, orthopedics, rehabilitation
and physical medicine are also
available.
Th e Flushing offi ce contains 13 multispecialty
physicians. Many of these doctors
are from Queens and have experience
at the Weill Cornell Medicine
facility. Th ese doctors will have a state
of the art facility that contains an ultrasound
machine and eight exam rooms.
“Th e physicians practicing here are
not only highly-trained experts in their
fi elds, but many of them are from this
community and have taken active roles
to ensure this practice accommodates
the people here,” said David Alge, senior
vice president of community and population
health at NewYork-Presbyterian.
Th e ribbon-cutting ceremony for the
new multispecialty offi ce took place on
Friday, Feb. 2. Th e new offi ce is located
on 39th Avenue between Main and

New palliative care program for cancer patients launched
Queens Medical Associates, a Fresh
Meadows cancer care facility specializing
in hematology and oncology, has
announced the launch of its new Adult
Cancer Palliative and Supportive Care
Program.
Th e practice has also hired and appointed
Dr. Pavel Groysman to lead the program.
Dr. Groysman is board certifi ed
in Internal and Geriatric Medicine, and
board eligible in Hospice and Palliative
Medicine.
Comprehensive palliative and supportive
care that treats both a person’s emotional
needs as well as their medical symptoms
is a core component of high quality
patient-centered cancer care. At Queens
Medical Associates, Dr. Groysman will
focus on creating a unique model of
patient-centered supportive care, incorporating
an integrative approach to eff ectively
address the physical and emotional

Aft er graduating with highest honors
and as valedictorian from Lenox Hill
Hospital – Pace University Physician
Assistants’ Program, Dr. Groysman
served as hospitalist Physician Assistant
at Kingston Hospital in upstate New
York. He subsequently graduated at the
top of his class at New York College of
Osteopathic Medicine.
Aft er completion of his palliative training
at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer
Center, he returned to NYU Winthrop
Hospital, where Dr. Groysman completed
his Internal Medicine Residency
and Geriatrics Fellowship training, to
become a faculty-attending physician in
the Division of Palliative Medicine and
Bioethics. During his time at Winthrop,
Dr. Groysman served as a founding faculty
in creating a fellowship in Hospice
and Palliative Medicine. His passion for
taking care of patients with cancer also
lead him to develop and grow an outpatient
Supportive Oncology program.
He is fl uent in English, Russian and
Ukrainian.
