Man who claimed to be
carrying a fi rearm robs
Ridgewood eatery: NYPD
Police are searching for the man who
claimed to be carrying a fi rearm during
the Dec. 27 robbery of a Ridgewood
eatery.
Authorities say that the unidentifi ed
thief entered Energy Fuel, a shop at 65-04
Fresh Pond Rd. that off ers smoothies,
sandwiches, wraps and salads, at approximately
3:30 p.m. on Dec. 27.
Once inside, he approached an
employee, claimed he was carrying a
fi rearm and demanded money, police
said. Th e employee went to the back
room to retrieve money, but when he
returned, the man had left the shop
without taking any money or property,
according to authorities.
About 10 minutes later, the man
returned to the store, approached an
employee, claimed he was carrying a
weapon inside of his bag and demanded
money, according to authorities. Th e
employee complied and gave the man
$500 in cash, police said. Th e man then
fl ed the scene.
No injuries were reported as a result of
the incident, cops said.

Random attacker punches
elderly man in Long
Island City: NYPD
A random assault in Long Island City
sent an elderly man to the hospital with
a broken wrist earlier this month, police
announced on Wednesday, Dec. 30.
On Saturday, Dec. 12, around 7:15 p.m.,
a 74-year-old man was standing on the
corner of 12th Street and 40th Avenue
when he was approached by an unidentifi
ed man, according to the NYPD.
Unprompted, the man punched the
74-year-old in the face, knocking him to
the ground, cops said.
Th e 74-year-old made his way to NYC
Health + Hospitals/Mt. Sinai to be treated
for a broken right wrist and a cut to his
lip, the NYPD said.
Police describe the assailant as being in
30s, standing around 5 feet 8 inches tall
and weighing approximately 175 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie
sweater, a brown jacket, brown pants, dark
sneakers, a Red Sox hat and facial hair.
No arrests have been made and the
investigation is ongoing.

Woman fatally shot in
East Elmhurst: NYPD
A woman died aft er being shot in East Elmhurst
on Saturday, Jan. 2, according to authorities.
Offi cers from the 115th Precinct responded
to a call regarding the shooting in front of
32-17 97th St. around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 2. Upon
their arrival, offi cers found a 37-year-old Josefi na
Perez De La Rosa, of 98th Street, with gunshot
wounds to the abdomen.
EMS arrived at the scene and transported the
woman to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst,
where she was pronounced dead.
Th ere have been no arrests and in the investigation
is ongoing.
