OBITUARIES
LUZ E. VERDESOTO died Thursday, Dec. 9, at the age of 60. She
was the beloved mother of Angel, Veronica, Sergio, Natalia and Cleo,
loving grandmother of Angel, Jaon and Anaiya, cherished daughter of
Nestor, and dear sister of Elizabeth, Alejandro, Gloria, Katherine and
Julian. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary’s Church
on Monday, Dec. 13, followed by a private cremation at Fresh Pond
Crematory in Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral
Home, Maspeth.

FIRMMAN GAO died Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the age of 98. He was the
beloved husband of Grace, loving father of Beryl Gao, Carin Gao (John
Chan), and Jenny Gao (Enrico Massaro), cherished grandfather of Jett,
Fox, Becker, Lincoln and Leonardo, and dear brother and uncle. A
funeral service was held at Papavero Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec.
11, followed by a private cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory in Middle
Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, Maspeth.

EDITH A. BLISKI died Monday, Dec. 13, at the age of 94. She was the
beloved wife of the late Frank Bliski, loving mother of Mary (Ronald)
Labiento, Dawn (Anton) Reiner, WEndy (Nicholas) Zimbardi, Frank
(Carol) Bliski, Stanley (Shea) Bliski, Jackie (Kevin) Dowling, and Michael
(Sandy) Bliski, cherished grandmother and great grandmother,
and dear sister of Samuel Rothenbaum and the late Herbert Roth and
loving aunt. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Aloysius
Church on Friday, Dec. 17, followed by a cremation at Fresh Pond
Crematory, interment of Cremains at Cypress Hills Cemetery in
Brooklyn, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, Maspeth.

ERNEST DIAZ died Friday, Nov. 26, at the age of 40. He was the
beloved father of Daylilah, Ernest and Lillian, loving brother of
Jose Diaz, David Diaz, and the late Cecilia Webster, cherished son of
Eunice Morales and the late Jose Diaz, and survived by many loving
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A private cremation was held
on Friday, Dec. 3 at Fresh Pond Crematory in Middle Village, and a
memorial visitation was held at Papavero Funeral Home on Sunday,
Dec. 12, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, Maspeth.

MARY CARROLL died Sunday, Dec. 12, at the age of 81. She was the
beloved wife of the late Brian F. Carroll, loving mother of Francis Carroll,
Brian Carroll, Sean Carroll, and the late Elizabeth Carroll, and
mother-in-law of Kristy, cherished grandmother of Skylar, Alyssa,
Hunter, Logan, Carley, Ella, Graham and Jenna. A Mass of Christian
Burial was offered at St. Margaret’s Church on Saturday, Dec. 18,
followed by interment at St. John Cemetery, under the direction of
Papavero Funeral Home, Maspeth.
