RIDGEWOOD TEEN’S
KILLER GETS 45 YEARS
IN PRISON
A Queens Village man will be spending
the next 45 years behind bars for
fatally shooting a Ridgewood teenager
and wounding another man during an
attempted drug robbery in January
2015, prosecutors announced.
Queens District Attorney Richard A.
Brown said that Jairam C. Ali Suarez,
26, was convicted back in October of
two counts of second-degree murder,
fi rst-degree assault, second-degree
criminal possession of a weapon,
second-degree robbery and second-degree
attempted robbery.
According to trial testimony, on Jan.
6, 2015, Wilfredo Aponte, 21, was in
the back seat of a car parked in front
of 150-22 130th St. when Suarez opened
the back door and entered the vehicle.
Suarez planned on robbing the car’s
occupants of the pound of marijuana the
victims believed Suarez was there to buy.
While inside the vehicle, Suarez
displayed a gun and shot Aponte once
in the upper right leg. He then turned
to the fi rearm toward the driver, John
Pichardo, 19, and fatally shot him once
in the head before fl eeing the scene.
Aponte was transported to a local
Queens hospital and treated for his
injuries.
“There is no place in a civilized society
for violence and senseless killing,”
Brown said in a statement on Nov.
28. “A jury weighed the evidence and
found the defendant guilty of committing
a cruel and callous act motivated
by greed. The court has now sentenced
the defendant to a very long term of
incarceration that will both punish
him and protect society.”
TEEN ARRESTED FOR
THREATENING 110TH
PRECINCT
A 19-year-old was arrested for
threatening to kill a member of Elmhurst’s
110th Precinct, according to
the NYPD.
Samuel Palominos was riding the F
train on 14th Street and Sixth Avenue
on Nov. 18 at about 6 p.m. when he started
threatening offi cers, police said.
Palominos was heard saying, “I am
going to the 110th Precinct with a bullet
proof vest and AK-47, and I’m gonna
shoot every cop in there.”
A witness called the 110th Precinct,
which covers Corona and Elmhurst, to
alert them of Palominos’ threats. He
was arrested by a 110th Precinct offi cer
at the corner of Elmhurst Avenue and
Case Street in Elmhurst on Nov. 19 and
charged with making terroristic threats.
Bail was set at set at $5,000
bond/$2,500 cash and he is scheduled
to appear in court on Nov. 24.
According to a spokesperson for District
Attorney Richard A. Brown, Palominos
was also arrested on Nov. 17 for criminal
mischief and other misdemeanors.
He pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct
violation as a result of that arrest, so the
records for his Nov. 19 arrest are sealed.
Captain Nicola Ventre, the commanding
offi cer for the 110th Precinct,
took to Twitter to thank the witness
for calling offi cers to warn them about
Palominos.
“Thank you to the Good Samaritan
who alerted us about the individual
riding the subway making terroristic
threats to shoot the police, because
of your brave actions we were able
to arrest the individual #SeeSomethingSaySomething
