The neighborhood staple we know as Mario’s Meats and
Gourmet Deli was opened in 1982, just one year after the
current owner and son of Mario, Joe, was born.
Mario made it his life’s work to see to it that his customers would always know that the quality of food they were
getting in his establishment was at the same caliber that he fed his own family. Joe learned early on that this was an
unwavering standard that always had to be upheld at Mario’s.
Starting as a delivery boy in 1994 at the age of 13, just as Mario did when he came to this country, he learned the
business from the ground up the same way his father did. Throughout his life Mario gave his son priceless lessons that
would prepare him for the future. As current owner of Mario’s, Joe has taken all of his skills and channeled them into
current times. Keeping the old school feel and quality that Mario worked to instill in him, but adding a modern twist.
Today at Mario’s you can find your weekly meal prep dishes, old school Sicilian street food straight from Palermo,
along with all of everyone’s favorite meats that have always been and will continue to be hand selected at the highest
quality; and you can order via your smart phone!
La Societa Di Polizzi Generosa New York was close to Mario’s heart and Joe continues his father’s legacy in being a
long time member and sponsor.
