OBITUARIES
CAMILO MARIN died Monday, Oct. 5, at the
age of 73. He was the beloved husband of the late
Sol Marin, loving father of Camilo J. Marin and
Alex (Diana) Marin, the cherished grandfather
of Jacinda, Alina, Fabian, Kenneth and Kasaira,
and dear brother of Gabriel and Maria Luisa.
He is also survived by many loving nieces and
nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was off ered
at Presentation of the BVM Church, followed
by interment at Calvary Cemetery, under the
direction of Papavero Funeral Home, Maspeth.

DELIA P. FERNANDEZ died Tuesday, Oct.
6, at the age of 64. She was the beloved wife of
Ramon S. Fernandez, loving mother of Yves Lorraine
Fernandez, Lyka Mae Greenburg, Ramon
Fernandez III and Justin Benedict Fernandez, the
cherished grandmother of Keith Owen, Kiara
Sachi, Sierra Jewel and Matteo, and dear sister of
Maria Liza, Renalita, Jovenal, Jose, Israel, Basilio
Jr. and Isabelita. A Mass of Christian Burial was
off ered at Ascension Church on Saturday, Oct. 10,
followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory,
Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero
Funeral Home, Maspeth.

MICHAEL P. WHELAN died Sunday, Oct.
11, at the age of 62. He was the beloved husband
of Helen Whelan, loving father of Corina Rubinov,
Michael Whelan and Stephen Whelan,
father-in-law of Eddie, devoted son of Sarah
Whelan, cherished grandfather of Liam, and
dear brother of Gerard Whelan, Alan Whelan,
Paul Whelan, Noel Whelan, Lilian Rosen and
Carol Whelan. He is also survived by many
loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of fl owers,
memorial donations may be made to LiveOnNY.
org. A Mass of Christian Burial will be off ered
at St. Mary’s Church on Friday, Oct. 16, followed
by private cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory,
Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero

MARIE BASANTA died Sunday, Oct. 11, at
the age of 84l She is ithe beloved wife of the late
Francisco Basanta and loving mother of Frank
Basanta and Joseph Basanta. Private cremation
will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at Fresh Pond
Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction
of Papavero Funeral Home, Maspeth.

Nicola Chiarappa, 61, of East Stroudsburg, PA,
(formerly of Astoria) died October 8th.
Born in Bari, Italy, he was a son of Gemina (Birardi) of Malboro, NY
and the late Francesco Chiarappa.
He worked on the family farm, and was a butcher, baker, pizza man, mechanic and machinist.
Nicola was a true family man who was kind, happy, hard-working and loved his family first.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38
years, Giovanna (Farella); children, Cristina (and husband
Manuel Molina) of East Stroudsburg, PA and Francesco of
Clear Lake, CA; grandchildren, Samantha Rose Molina
and Manuel Cris Molina; siblings, Leonarda Millilo of
Altoona, PA, Nunzio Chiarappa of Osceola Mills, PA,
Costanza Grimaldi of Malboro and Giovanni Chiarappa of
Phillipsburg, PA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews
whom he was very close to.
Viewing and services were held on Sunday, October 11,
at Wm. H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA.
Cremation was private.
