Thief steals $20K worth of jewelry
from Astoria jeweler: NYPD
Police are looking for a man who smashed an Astoria jewelry shop’s window
and made off with around $20,000 worth of jewelry in broad daylight earlier
this month.
On Wednesday, Sept. 2, around 11:20 a.m., an unidentifi ed man broke the
display window of KA Jewelry, located at 30-04 Broadway, according to the
NYPD. The thief then reached into the store and grabbed two trays of jewelry
as onlookers passed by, police said.
The man then fl ed on foot down Broadway carrying the trays, each containing
about 25 pieces of jewelry worth $20,000 altogether, cops said.
No injuries were reported as a result of the burglary.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Cops seek crook behind attempted
gunpoint robbery in Astoria
Police are searching for a man who is wanted in connection with an attempted
robbery in Astoria last month.
Authorities say that an unidentifi ed man approached a 39-year-old man just
before 10 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, when he fl ashed a handgun and demanded
cash. The victim claimed he had no cash, and the would-be robber fl ed the scene
on foot, police said.
No shots were fi red and nothing was stolen from the victim, who was not
injured as a result of the incident, according to authorities.
