Ennis, former Glendale resident, passed away on Monday, Aug. 3 at Mayo Hospital in Phoenix. She is survived by husband Mick Ennis, Cave Creek, AZ and daughter Kerry Colleen Ennis of Long Beach, NY. Mass was offered at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in Cave Creek with cremation following. Arrangements were made through Hansen Mortuary of Phoenix Friend, Mentor and Humanitarian Harold Charles Menger, MD, FACS, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2015. Dr. Menger was born in Brooklyn on August 8, 1923 and was a practicing physician for 50 years in Otolaryngology and Ophthalmology in the Brooklyn/Queens community. He attended the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with an MD from the Long Island College of Medicine in 1947.He served with the Army medical corps during both World War II and the Korean conflict and trained in eye, ear, nose and throat at New York Polyclinic Hospital. He was board certified in Otolaryngology and a life fellow in The American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Academy Of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Brocho-Esophagological Association. Dr. Menger’s father, Dr. Louis C. Menger had retired from practice due to illness and Dr. Harold Menger re-opened the practice in 1951. Dr.Harold Mengerwas the medical director and president of the medical board at both Evangelical Deaconess Hospital and Bethany Deaconess Hospital.At various times he was on staff at Hillcrest (later St Joseph’s) Hospital, Parkway Hospital, Wykoff Heights Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York City. He spent 88 summers at his home on Fire Island where he met the love of his life, Helen Marie. He was a devoted husband until she passed in 2001 and is survived by his three sons and their wives:Harold Charles Menger, Jr. (MaryAnn), Peter Louis Menger, MD (Virginia) , and Andrew Frederic Menger (Kerry). He had 7grandchildren, Lauren, Trey (Tina), Dane (deceased 2010), Richard (Beth Ann) , Austin, Mary and Luke and one great granddaughter, Lisette. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his older brother Paul. His passion was medicine and he was completely devoted to the treatment of his patients and the bond he developed with their families. Viewing will be Simonson/Fox Funeral Home (9807 Ascan Avenue, Forest Hills, NY 11375) Thursday 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be 9:30am Friday at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church (110-06 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, NY 11375) followed by honor guard burial at Maple Grove Cemetery.
