It didn’t hurt that I did three of my favorite Dynamic for all the news 24 hours, 7 days a week DENTAL go WORK to www.ridgewoodtimes.com 175-15 Jamaica avenue, Jamaica 718-297-4100 • 718-297-4106 tweet me @vschneps Free Whitening included Some excluSionS Apply the inViSiBle WAy to StrAighten teeth third generation dentist $1500 off Lumineers $500 off Invisalign things – shopping at the LiC flea and beer garden, visiting my friend Pouran in the Hamptons and dinner with dear friend sylvia ash at the russian tea room. Friday night launched a wonderful weekend with a unique meal at the historic restaurant. Then on Saturday, Josh and I invited our Brooklyn and Queens staff to join us for food and fun at the Flea. We gave them a gift certificate to buy food or gift items and did we have fun. A talented band, Jolie Mone, played live music as the singer belted song after song as we ate lunch at the tables overlooking the East River. The Beer Garden, in the rear of the market, features Queens brewers and I was delighted that we had one of them, Finback Brewery, at the market. I had never been a beer drinker but since sampling their refreshing, bold flavors I’m a convert to the drink. I had walked the food aisles, where there are over 40 food vendors to choose from. I selected skewers – three for $5 – from seven different options. I chose one made of bacon-wrapped asparagus, another with grilled tofu, and one with shrimp. I came back for three more after my staff gobbled them up! Then I added macaroni and cheese, and juicy and just fatty enough beef sandwiches from butcher bar. I moved to the dessert aisle and couldn’t resist something I never had before – fried chocolate ice cream covered in crispy Oreo crumbs. It sounds weird but I can assure you it was delicious! I took it with four spoons to share! The next table, tres Leche, was a pie place selling slices. I couldn’t resist the tiramisu, but asked for four forks to share, and the slice disappeared in minutes! To go with dessert I had the special iced tea and others had the freshly brewed iced coffee. Then my real fun began: shopping the unique vendors. I had bought a Queens T-shirt and a photo of the East River by photographer alex benjamin. It’s now hanging in my pool room. I couldn’t resist the interesting unique bracelets at fiza. She always entices me with her enormous selections of scarves, earrings, dresses and pants, and endless selections of items from India. If I had one of my grandchildren with me, I would have taken them kayaking on the Anable Basin into the East River, a truly unique experience overlooking the spectacular Manhattan skyline! Then Sunday, I was treated to great friends by the bay. Pouran from the north shore towers salon and spa and kia hosted Claire shulman and Debby Markell and me at her home in Hampton Bays. She is the best cook and lunch turned into a feast overlooking her pool and the calm waters of the bay. The afternoon flew by and we all hugged to say goodbye. It was such a good energy weekend!
