Salvatore Candela stated Recording Secretary Jean Sausa, Corresponding Secretary Augie Trinchese and Vice President Arlene Micom are all stepping down next month. Candela himself said he would also resign if no successors are elected next month; with no leadership in place, the organization would ultimately fold. Sausa gave a formal resignation in writing: “I have a conflict and I will not be able to fulfill my duties.” Trinchese followed and submitted an informal resignation, stating this too would be his last year to serve. Police Seek Suspects In C. Hills by Robert Pozarycki Two men were shot and another was stabbed during a violent attack on the Brooklyn side of Highland Park in Cypress Hills Sunday afternoon, May 18, police reported. According to law enforcement sources, the violence erupted at about 5:46 p.m. inside the park off the intersection of Jamaica Avenue and Cleveland Street. Reportedly, an unidentified perpetrator—described only by the NYPD as a black male—shot a 20- year-old man twice in the chest and a 17-year-old male in the left thigh. During the episode, authorities noted, an 18-year-old man was knifed in the left arm. Officers from the 75th Precinct responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call about the assault.
