The 35-year-old victim was riding his scooter southbound on Woodhaven Boulevard just after 10 p.m. on April 26 when an SUV that was traveling northbound on Woodhaven struck him as it was making a turn at Rockaway Boulevard, cops said. The vehicle then fled. Police took the suspect, Darren Roach, 47, into custody near his home at Onderdonk and 70th avenues a short time later. Roach has been charged with leaving the scene and criminal possession of a weapon for having a stun gun, according to police. The scooter rider was taken to Jamaica Hospital with a right leg injury. SUV crashes into South Ozone Park store An SUV slammed into a South Ozone Park discount store, injuring two people, reports said. The vehicle crashed into the front glass wall of the Deals store about 4:30 p.m. on April 26 at 109th Avenue and Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park, according to WABC and the FDNY. Two people were hurt and taken to Jamaica Hospital, fire officials said. Their injuries were reportedly minor. According to CBS New York, the driver, who witnesses said appeared to be a woman in her 40s or 50s, may have confused the accelerator for the brakes. The driver has not been charged. Pair arrested for drug possession in Howard Beach Police found large amounts of oxycodone and Xanax and arrested two men while executing a search warrant in a Howard Beach apartment house. Members of the NYPD Queens Narcotics Bureau and the 106th Precinct launched the raid at 6 a.m. on April 24 at an apartment on 156th Avenue near 81st Street. Reportedly, police recovered one large Ziploc bag containing 57 oxycodone pills and 88 Xanax pills from an end table in the living room. Officers also recovered a pill bottle containing 45 oxycodone pills and 30 Xanax pills in the kitchen and a wallet containing $1,245 in cash. The home’s resident, Matthew Clarke, 23, and an accomplice, Timothy R. Yan, 21, were taken into custody at the scene. According to authorities, Clarke and Yan were sleeping on separate couches in the living room when police entered the home. Clarke and Yan, a Brooklyn resident, were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Clarke was booked on an additional drug possession charge. During their arraignment hearings, Yan was ordered held on $5,000 bail, while Clarke was released without bail. Both men were due back in court April 29.
