27 • TIMES, THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 2014 State Grant Boosts World’s Fair Commemorations Assemblywoman Margaret Markey announced that the state has awarded a $100,000 grant to the Queens Tourism Council to help it promote the borough as a destination during the upcoming year. The funds, which come from the NYS Department of Economic Development’s “I Love NY” program, will largely go to spreading the word about local World’s Fair commemorative events over the next six months. Among those pictured with Markey are Queens Parks Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski, Queens Economic Development Corporation President Seth Borenstein, Queens Tourism Council Director Rob MacKay (standing next to a cutout of Louis Armstrong) and former New York Mets player and coach Mookie Wilson, who happened to be on hand for the announcement at the Queens Theatre in the Park. Gala First Anniversary Celebration For Ridgewood Market The Ridgewood Market celebrated its first anniversary at Gottscheer Hall with food, drinks, pastries and vintage gifts.
