42 MARCH 2, 2017 RIDGEWOOD TIMES WWW.QNS.COM SPORTS Our Lady of Hope win back-to-back Diocesan Championships Under the coaching of Anthony Navarra and Scott Nieto, the Our Lady of Hope Hornets novice girls basketball team capped off a great season by capturing the Diocesan Championship for the second year in a row. Out of a playoff bracket that included 20 strong teams from the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, Hope went on to face the undefeated team from Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament to take the championship in a thrilling back and forth battle. It was a total team victory with a fi nal score of 30-26. The girls continue to prove that teamwork makes the dream work. Congratulations to the Novice Girls Diocesan Champs: Kylie Grabler, Ava Hershkovitz, Sophia Hoyt, Abigail Jalocha, Samantha Kelly, Samantha Muller, Angelina Navarra, Shannon Nieto, Ella Roche and Gabriella Savino. Stanners capture the CHSAA Brooklyn/ Queens diocesean title The Archbishop Molloy High school boys varsity basketball team won the CHSAA Brooklyn/ Queens Diocesan Championship on Feb. 24, defeating Bishop Loughlin High School 80-67 during the championship game at Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village. Sophomore Cole Anthony scored 32 points, while juniors Moses Brown and Khalid Moore racked up 16 and 15 points respectively.
