GREGORY T. GABRIEL died Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the age of 65. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor Gabriel, loving brother of Carol (Jerry) Nardo, adored
son-in-law of Angela Heredia, and cherished uncle of Michelle. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Funeral services are scheduled to be held at Papavero Funeral
Home on Thursday, Feb. 24, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, Maspeth.

CORRINE (SCHMIEDER) SAPIENZA passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 21, at the age of 85, surrounded be her four children. She will be forever remembered
for her love of her children, her family, and her faith. She was born on April 10, 1936, in Ridgewood, N.Y., to the late Walter and Ann Simmons. She is predeceased
by her brother Walter Simmons. Her life was devoted to her children and service to the church. Her legacy is one of strength, faith, love, commitment, and her
sense of humor. She is survived by her children Diane T. Macke (Ted); Stephen J. Schmieder (Joanne); Paul F. Schmieder (Dawn); and Susan J. Wittmer (Charles); and
grandchildren Paul Schmieder (Melissa), Justin Schmieder (Lauren); Jessica Schmieder (Chris); Kelly Macchio; Nick Schmieder (Shannon); and Nick Macchio (Alexa);
Brett Buser; Justin Macke, and her great-grandchildren Ava, Hunter, Harper, Vincenzo, Sophia, and Giana. A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Thursday,

Siegfried B. Groth
A longtime resident of Middle Village, passed away
peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was 89 years
old. He is survived by his “significant other” of 31 years,
Linda Sincavage.
“Sigi” was born on June 18, 1932, in Chemnitz Germany.
After fleeing from East Germany, he arrived in the United
States in 1962 and settled in Queens. For the next 33 years
he worked at Ozone Industries, an aerospace engineering
firm, where he designed steering systems and landing gears
for helicopters and jet planes.
Sigi was an accomplished photographer, but also loved cars
and sports and people. An expert skier, he and some friends
founded the Enzian Ski Club, which is still active today.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2022.
Inurnment will be in the Memorial Niche Room at The
Center, Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, NY.
