She was the parish secretary at Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Services were offered in Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village,

Grandview Ave., Ridgewood.
JOSE F. RODRIGUEZ, of Brooklyn died Wednesday, February 12, at the
age of 74. A native of Arroyo, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved husband of
Delia Rivera and devoted father of Luz Rodriguez, Kenneth Rodriguez, Jose
F. Rodriguez and Yahira Rodriguez. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Services were offered at Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels,
Ridgewood, followed by interment in Cypress Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn,
under the direction of Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663
Grandview Ave., Ridgewood.
BARBARA P. WHITTMAN died Thursday, February 13, at the age of
93, a few weeks shy of her 94th birthday. A lifelong resident of Palmetto
Street, she was the beloved wife of Lt. Henry J. Whittman, mother of the
late Dr. James H. Whittman (Sibylle), Dennis C. Whittman (Barbara), Barbara
Schechter (husband Dr. Steven Schechter) and Dr. Denise Whitman.
Familiar to all in the community, she earned the nickname “Mayor of
Palmetto Street.” She was a phenomenal baker and cook, sharing many
meals of traditional German recipes with the entire community, including
firehouses and schools. She raised all of her children to reach for the stars
and to believe in themselves so they could successfully realize all of their
dreams and goals, pushing them to boundless limits. She cared about all of
those around her and made them the best they could be. Her favorite treat
was listening to each of her children’s play musical instruments as she sang
loudly in the background. Visitation was held Tuesday, February, 18 from
2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services were held Tuesday,
February 18, at 8 p.m. and Wednesday, February 19, at 10 a.m., followed by
interment at Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village.
