No. 620 last Thursday, Feb. 5. The bill will co-name Ridgewood Avenue between Shepard Avenue and Highland Place in Brooklyn, “Detective Rafael Ramos Way” and West 6th Street between Avenues S and T in Brooklyn, “Detective Wenjian Liu Way.” “Detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the safety and security of our city’s residents—and they will not be forgotten,” de Blasio said. “These conamings are a reminder to all New Yorkers that our city’s quiet heroes are all around us, working tirelessly to keep our communities safe from harm.” Among the 54 other street co-namings honorees is Steven Frosch, a sanitation worker who was killed while performing maintenance on a mechanical broom at a Maspeth garage. Frosch also served in the NYPD before joining the DSNY. “Today we remember our uniformed workers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the people of New York,” Council Member Elizabeth Crowley said. “These street co-namings will forever commemorate the lives of our fallen heroes right in the communities they called home, including our beloved Steven Frosch from Middle Village.” Apt. Fire In Bushwick No injuries were reported after a one-alarm fire broke out inside a Bushwick apartment house last Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 4. Fire Department sources said the blaze ignited at about 3:30 p.m. on the top floor of a three-story home on Cooper Street near Wilson Avenue. More than 10 Fire Department units responded to the scene along with the 83rd Precinct and EMS units. Firefighters used one hose line to bring the fire under control, it was noted.
