TIMES, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2015 • 8 Police Beat Compiled By Robert Pozarycki 104th Precinct Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood M.V. Bank Bandit Strikes Again He couldn’t stay away. More than a month after robbing a Middle Village bank, a note-carrying crook returned to the same location last Wednesday morning, Feb. 4, for a refill, police reported. Law enforcement sources said the latest caper occurred at 11:35 a.m. inside the Astoria Bank at 75-25 Metropolitan Ave. Detectives determined that the suspect behind the holdup—described as a black male in his 30s standing 5’6”-tall, weighing 190 lbs. and wearing a green jacket and blue jeans—swiped money from the same location on Dec. 30, 2014. Authorities further connected him to two other heists last year in the 104th Precinct’s confines: a Nov. 24 holdup inside the Capital One bank at 74-11 Metropolitan Ave. in Middle Village; and the Dec. 9 robbery at a Capital One branch at 70-01 Forest Ave. in Ridgewood. Regarding last Wednesday’s incident, police said the suspect walked into the bank at 11:50 a.m. and—as he did in the previous robberies—passed a demand note to the teller. Reportedly, the employee provided the suspect with $8,300 in cash. Law enforcement sources said the crook took the money and exited the bank, fleeing on foot eastbound along Metropolitan Avenue. No injuries were reported. The NYPD Major Case Squad is investigating the robbery pattern, police said. Anyone with information regarding the pattern or the suspect’s whereabouts that could prove helpful is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-577-TIPS; by text message to 274637 (enter information, then the code TIP577) or online at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com. All calls and messages will be kept confidential. Stole Drugs From R’wood Store The NYPD seeks the man pictured below who allegedly stole over-the-counter medicine from the same Ridgewood pharmacy late last year. Authorities said the perpetrator—described as a black male wearing black glasses—first stole medication from the Duane Reade pharmacy located at 54-11 Myrtle Ave. at about 5:25 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2014. Reportedly, the crook returned to the same location on Dec. 29, 2014 at 4:40 p.m. and again swiped various overthe counter drugs. Persons with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts are urged to contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-577-TIPS, by text message to 274637 (enter information, then the code TIP577) or online at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com. All calls will be kept confidential. 83rd Precinct Bushwick Flashed Himself On The Corner Police cuffed this week the man pictured below, identified as Anton Liverpool, who allegedly performed a lewd act in front of a woman on a Bushwick street last month. Law enforcement sources said Liverpool walked up to a woman at the corner of Irving Avenue and Eldert Street at 8 a.m. on Jan. 5, pulled his pants down and touched himself. The woman reportedly fled the scene. The NYPD described Liverpool as standing 5’7”-tall and weighing 180 lbs. According to published reports, a police officer spotted Liverpool last Saturday, Feb. 7, in the area of Gates and Myrtle avenues and recognized him from a wanted poster. Liverpool was reportedly taken into custody for public lewdness and forcible touching Phony Workers Steal Equipment Posing as utility workers, four burglars gained access into a Bushwick building last month and swiped equipment from a cell phone tower, police reported. According to law enforcement sources, the four perpetrators (pictured below inside an elevator) entered a commercial structure at 1149 Putnam Ave. on Jan. 13 at 12:41 p.m. They reportedly informed security personnel that they were utility workers. Police said the crooks then made their way to the roof, removed eight batteries and 40 feet of valuable copper wire from the cell phone tower and fled the scene. Authorities described the four suspects as Hispanic males with dark and light complexions. Persons with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts are urged to contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-577-TIPS, by text message to 274637 (enter information, then the code TIP577) or online at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
