The Blau Weiss Gottschee (BWG) 2007 and 2005 boys’ teams fi nished fi rst and second respectively at the Rockland Community College indoor tournament last weekend. They outplayed, out-possessed and outscored their opponents, beating some local clubs such as Istria and LI Roughriders. The BWG pre-academy 2003 team finished in first in their tightly contested group during the tournament. On their way to victory, they defeated NY Hoya, New Rochelle and White Plains. The boys weren’t the only ones to bring home first- place wins. The BWG Girls U12 team defeated Wyckoff United in the tournament semi-fi nals 3-2. In the fi nals, BWG played New Rochelle. BWG jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but New Rochelle tied the score at 2-2 to send the game to penalty kicks. The girls were victorious in the PKs 2-1, and took fi rst place. Play darts in Middle Village to help support the Play4Autism foundation BY ANTHONY GIUDICE AGIUDICE@RIDGEWOODTIMES.COM @A_GIUDICEREPORT Dart players from across the neighborhood will gather at Pat’s Sports Bar in Middle Village on Friday, Feb. 17, for a charity darts tournament to benefi t the Play4Autism foundation. The tournament — dubbed Darts4Autism — will kick off at 8 p.m. at Pat’s Sports Bar, located at 73-13 Metropolitan Ave. There will be a $20 entrance fee, with the winner taking home 50 percent of the entry fee money. It will be a double-elimination style tournament with straight darts in, double out format. The champion and runner-up will both receive trophies. There will also be a 50/50 raffl e and a bar raffl e. The Play4Autism foundation works to increase public awareness, and to foster acceptance of Autism. They also improve the quality of life for children with Autism with their programs like the Kidz into Action Programs, which introduce children on the Autism Spectrum to sports, music and arts and craft s.
