OBITUARIES
SALVATORE MONTALBANO died
Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the age of 42 due
to COVID-19. He was the loving husband
of Nancy Montalbano and dear
father of Valentina, Julianna and Salvatore
Jr. The Montalbano family has

that will be used to support his children’s

VIVEN MARIE HEGARTY (VELOSO)
died Wednesday, Jan. 27, at
the age of 53. She was born in 1967 in
Manila, Phillippines, to parents Octavio
and Zenaida Veloso and brother
Rene. She moved to Queens, New York
at age 12 and lived with her Aunt and
Uncle, Drs. Aida and Emesto Jocson
and their four children (Bernadette,
Judy, Liza, and Michael) in Howard
Beach, New York. She attended
St. Francis Prepatory School and
continued her studies at St. John’s
University, where she qualified as a
pharmacist and also earned her MBA
degree. She spent her career practicing
as a pharmacist and worked in
the Children’s Hospital of New York
at New York Presbyterian Hospital
ian upper Manhattan. She married
Niall Hegarty in 2007 and became a
doting mom to Julia who was born in
2010. Vivien, Niall, and Julia resided
in Middle Village. Vivien lived life to
the fullest and especially enjoyed her
trips each summer and Christmas to
Cork City, Ireland. In recent years
she also enjoyed her time spent in
Bantam, Connecticut. Vivien will be
deeply missed by her families both in
Queens, New York and Cork, Ireland
as well as her much loved and devoted
friends in Middle Village. We
will all miss her presence, her laugh,
and her smile. A Mass of Christian
Burial was offered at St. Margaret’s
Church on Monday, Feb. 1, followed
by private cremation at All Souls
Crematory, East Elmhurst, under the
direction of Papavero Funeral Home,
Maspeth.
