QUEENS WEEKLY, JULY 14, 2019
By Jennifer Aline Graham
David Geffen Hall will be filled with a unique mixture of
musicians, performers, and actors the evening of September
6th, 2019. This collection of talent will not just be a celebration
of impressive performances, it will be a night to recognize
the bond China and the United States have created with
one another. The Chinese Business Association of New York
and Beijing Association of New York look forward to hosting
an evening filled with memories in-the-making, enlightening
music, and conversation deep conversation.
“The concert is a celebration of forty years of the establishment
of our Sino-American relationship,” explains Peter Hou,
the founder of the Beijing Association of New York. The event
will focus on this relationship as well as the talented performers
who have sculpted this established bond.
Overnight Sensation, “Henry” Huo Zun,
to Shine Bright
“The concert features an iconic lineup consisting of wellknown
artists from both China and the U.S.” One of the iconic,
young individuals planning to bring fire to the stage is
Henry Huo Zun. At only twenty-three years of age, Zun won
the first season of Sing my Song in 2014, pushing his popularity
to the top of the charts almost overnight. The audience
instantly fell in love with the clarity of his voice and judges applauded
his near-perfect tone. The song that assisted his initial
fame, “Rolling Up the Beaded Curtain” (Juán Zhū Lián),
was crowned Song of the Year.
Music is the Medicine that Connects Cultures
Fang Fei, director of the Asian Cultural Symphony of the
USA, and Emma Ge, concert director, have expressed their
“shared intentions to promote the culture and bring people
together.” Whether it be at a performance for Henry Huo Zun
or devine pianist, Yin Cheng-Zong, or master violinist, Cho
Liang-Lin, the cultural mixture in the audience is a true spectacle.
The person in the seat beside you may be from Brooklyn
while the person behind you may be from Beijing. Music is
the medicine that connects cultures – that is what The Golden
Night Concert is planning to embrace, celebrate, and continue
to build upon.
