“Elegant and Deep Music”
Xiying Zou Impresses the Public with
By Jennifer Aline Graham (Daily Media Studio)
This performance left the audience amazed
by Zou’s ability to create memorable imagery
through piano. Zou has deeply appreciated the
“sincere love” she felt from audience members
who have reached out to her regarding her talent.
“Symphony Space is a high-level performance
hall for great artists from all over the world. It
made me nervous in some ways, but overall it’s
a good thing - it inspired me a lot,” states Zou.
“It pushed me to try my best to present great
music.”
The energy she felt last spring was the positive
push she needed to continue locking down performances,
all leading to her upcoming album
release.
A Musical Storyteller Prepared to
Enlighten
Zou is thrilled to release her first classical piano
album sometime this spring. She continues
to diligently work on her craft, tweaking and
perfecting each song to make sure it is perfected
before the release date – which is still unknown.
Being a perfectionist, she will not release an album
that is not fully prepared for the public. She
wants those who listen to it to feel as if they are
a member of the audience at one of her performances.
She hopes her album has the ability to
engulf the listener fully, bringing a different atmosphere
and energy to their soul.
She especially looks forward to one piece on her
album that has been a favorite amongst
concert-goers. The specific piece brings
forth natural, earthly imagery and Zou enjoys
creating music that brings the listener
to an entirely new and peaceful realm.
“One piece from concerts will be on the
album – a contemporary piano piece by
Judith Lang Zaimont,” explains Zou of the
heartfelt decision to only add one song to
her album from her performances. “It’s a
very beautiful piece. It reminds me of a
painting of a peaceful ocean. The melody
and structure of the piece are similar to
impressionism music.”
Zou looks forward to completing her album
and showcasing it to the public. She
tells tranquil stories of peace and nature
through her music – something her many
fans appreciate and adore. Her ability to
concoct such deep, natural stories through
the art of piano is a truly unique concept –
one that many musicians her age have not
yet figured out the craft of.
“Music is an interpretation of human nature
with depths from the heart,” says Zou.
“The requirements for music are particularly
high. There is no end to art and every

Multitalented pianist, Xiying “Laura” Zou,
has showed the world her true musical abilities
over the course of the last year. She has left
those who attended her performances in awe
of her natural ability to create personal, impressionist
music that encompasses her sensitive
spirit. With an album release growing
near, she has been taking time to reminisce
on the performances she has experienced this
last year, all that have influenced the music
on her album.
Recent Performances Showcase
Zou’s Unique Talents
Zou has shown the public how truly versatile her
style is by telling heartfelt stories through the art
of piano. With professional training that started
at both the Xinghai Conservatory of Music and
the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, her vast
assortment of knowledge comes from a very
solid, collegiate background.
“I had many small concerts, such as solo concerts
in Beijing and Guangzhou, through the
summer of 2018 as well as some music salon
performances in early 2019,” explains Zou of her
busy year. “But the biggest concert I had was in
New York City on April 12, 2018 at Symphony
Space.”

very happy to put my emotions into music.”
