Suspect sought in teen
stabbing at 7 train subway
station in Elmhurst: NYPD
Police are searching for the crook who
stabbed a 14-year-old boy as he was getting
off a 7 train in Elmhurst on the morning
of Wednesday, April 13, according to
authorities.
Police from the 115th Precinct and Transit
District 20 are looking for the suspect in the
unprovoked attack that occurred around
8:40 a.m. on April 13 as the youngster exited
a southbound 7 at the 90th Street-Elmhurst
Avenue station. While on the platform, the teen
was approached by an unknown individual
who allegedly displayed a sharp object and
proceeded to stab the victim in the abdomen,
police said. Th e assailant then fl ed the station
in an unknown direction.
Law enforcement sources told QNS that no
words were exchanged during the attack.
EMS responded to the crime scene and
rushed the youngster to Elmhurst Hospital
Center where he was in stable condition, police
said.Th
e NYPD released surveillance images of
the assailant who was wearing a dark Yankees
cap and black gaiter face covering with a gray
hooded sweatshirt that features a Nike swoosh.
Th e suspect was last seen wearing blue jeans
and dark sneakers, police said.

Corona man gets 24 years
in prison in fatal stabbing
of girlfriend in 2020: DA
A Corona man who admitted he viciously
stabbed his girlfriend to death in 2020, was sentenced
to 24 years in prison Monday, April 11.
Edwin Sarmiento, 31, pleaded guilty last month
to manslaughter for fatally stabbing 30-year-old

said on Feb. 8, 2020, shortly aft er 4 a.m.
Sarmiento and the victim argued inside
the bedroom of the Corona residence they
shared. Th e heated exchange turned violent
when Sarmiento grabbed a knife and stabbed
his girlfriend numerous times. Sarmiento
then went to the kitchen for an even bigger
knife, broke down a door to access where the
victim attempted to hide and continued to
stab her repeatedly. Sarmiento then fl ed the
apartment.
He was arrested a short time aft erward at
a nearby gas station in blood-soaked clothes,
carrying a bag fi lled with money, phones,
passports and other belongings, according to
Katz. EMS rushed Galindo Puentes to a nearby
hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“Th e defendant showed no mercy when he
grabbed multiple knives and plunged them
into the body of this defenseless woman,”
Katz said. “With this last step in our judicial
process, the defendant has been sentenced
by the court, giving the family of the victim
closure.”
Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth
Holder ordered Sarmiento to be incarcerated
for 24 years, to be followed by fi ve years of
post-release supervision.

Cops seek creep who pleasured
himself in front of 7 train rider
near Jackson Heights station
Police from the 115th Precinct in Jackson
Heights and Transit District 20 are on the
lookout for a pervert who allegedly pleasured
himself in front of a 7 train rider in broad daylight
late last month.
Th e creepy man was onboard Manhattanbound
7 entering the transit hub at Broadway
and 74th Street at around noon on Saturday,
March 26, when he suddenly exposed himself
and began masturbating in front of a 20-yearold
woman, police said.
Th e NYPD released surveillance images
of the man who was masked up and wearing
glasses.
In one photo he is seen wearing a green knit
hat, a blue hooded jacket with a gray backpack.
He wore light-colored trousers and brown
shoes. In the second image, the suspect is seen
wearing a green baseball cap and a gray hooded
sweatshirt.
