Man attacks subway rider
on Steinway Street before
taking his new shoes: NYPD
Police from the 114th Precinct in
Astoria and Transit District 20 are looking
for a man who attacked a subway
rider before stealing his shoes earlier
this month.
Th e 18-year-old victim was on the
northbound R train platform at the
Steinway Street station just aft er 8 p.m.
on Saturday, Dec. 11, when the suspect
approached and began punching and
kicking him before taking his box of
shoes and fl eeing, police said.
Th e victim refused medical attention
at the scene.
Th e NYPD released surveillance video
of the assailant as he took off with the
box of shoes. Th e suspect has a light
complexion and dark hair and he was
wearing a blue jacket, beige pants and
dark sneakers.
No arrests have been made. Th e investigation
is ongoing.

restaurant leaves off -duty
school safety agent dead,
two others injured: NYPD
Cops are looking for the suspect behind
a Queens shooting early in the morning
of Th ursday, Dec. 23, that left a 27-yearold
off -duty school safety agent dead and
two other victims seriously injured.
Law enforcement sources said the bullets
rang out at about 4:08 a.m. on Dec.
23 outside the Solletto restaurant at 23-66
Steinway St. in Astoria.
According to Deputy Chief Julie
Morrill, commanding offi cer of the
Queens North Detectives Bureau, Mye
Johnson, 27, was with two friends, also
age 27, at the club celebrating their birthdays
“amongst a large group of friends”
when a dispute broke out.
“Multiple persons fi red shots, and the
three victims were struck,” Morrill said
during a press conference about the
shooting on the aft ernoon of Dec. 23.
Offi cers from the 114th Precinct, in
responding to a 911 call about the gunfi
re, found Johnson with multiple gunshot
wounds to her torso and leg. EMS
rushed her to nearby Mount Sinai Queens
Hospital, where she died a short time later.
Meanwhile, her two friends — another
27-year-old woman shot in the left
knee, and a 27-year-old man wounded
in the buttocks and left shoulder — were
brought to Elmhurst Hospital in stable
condition. Initial reports had incorrectly
indicated that the 27-year-old woman
was Johnson’s sister.
No shots were fi red inside the club,
according to Morrill. Detectives are now
reviewing “an enormous amount of video
being viewed right now, including the
body cameras of the fi rst offi cers, video
from the front of the club and other areas
of the location,” hoping to get views of
the suspects responsible.
So far, no arrests have been made in the
ongoing investigation, police said.
“Th is is very early in an active investigation,”
Morrill said. “If anyone has any
information that could lead us in this
investigation, we beg you to please call
Crime Stoppers.”

Queens man shot dead
in precinct’s second fatal
shooting in less than 24 hours
A Queens man shot dead on a residential
block early in the morning of
Monday, Dec. 27, was the 105th Precinct‘s
second fatal shooting victim in less than
24 hours’ time, police reported.
Peter Johnson, 31, of Foch Boulevard
in South Jamaica took a bullet to his head
in front of a home on 212th Street off of
Hollis Avenue in Queens Village at about
12:56 a.m. on Dec. 27.
Police found the mortally wounded victim
while responding to a 911 call about
the shooting. EMS rushed Johnson to
Jamaica Hospital, where he died a short
time later.
Witnesses told police they heard a verbal
dispute on the street, followed by gunshots,
seconds before Johnson was found
fatally injured.
So far, no arrests have been made in the
ongoing investigation, authorities said.
Police have yet to obtain a description of
the shooter.
Only about 12 hours earlier, offi cers
from the 105th Precinct responded to an
apparent drive-by shooting in Springfi eld
Gardens that left a 34-year-old man dead.
Law enforcement sources said the bullets
rang out at about 12:28 p.m. on
Dec. 16 in front of a home on 146th
Terrace near Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in
Springfi eld Gardens.
Based on a preliminary investigation,
police determined that an unidentifi ed
shooter inside a silver vehicle opened fi re
on the two victims while speeding past
them on the street.
Responding offi cers found 34-yearold
Dashon Borden of 144th Drive in
Springfi eld Gardens with a bullet wound
to his back. EMS rushed him to Jamaica
Hospital, where he was pronounced dead
a short time later.
Cops said the second man, age 28, took
a shot in his foot, and is in stable condition
at Jamaica Hospital.
No arrests have been made in that case,
police sources said.
