ST. FRANCIS PREP STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM RELATIONSHIP WITH KAPLAN TEST PREP
St. Francis Preparatory School prides itself on preparing students for college, and their lives beyond. In addition to its rigorous academic program,
Prep’s Guidance department provides numerous services to students to ensure they are in the best position possible when it come to college applications
and standardized testing, such as the SAT. Last year alone, Prep students earned well over $150 million in merit scholarship to colleges and
universities in the United States and around the world, icluding the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Enginnering, Cornell University, CUNY Macaulay
Honors College, Barnard College at Columbia University, William and Mary, and the Juilliard School.
One of the most stressful events for a high school student is the taking SAT. Prep has partnered with Kaplan Test Prep to offer regular test prep
sessions, as well as practice tests. In years past, Prep had explored different associations but opted for Kaplan, an international company with proven
results in both scholastic and professional testing.
According to Prep’s College Office website, “Welcome to the 2017/2018 school year! Kaplan has been working with the College Office to make sure we
are providing families with the information and opportunities to help with the college entrance
exams.” Prep juniors and seniors benefit from the fact that classes are held at Prep, and they
don’t have to travel elsewhere, and in addition to Kaplan staff, Prep staff is always on hand.
There are also numerous discounts, given the fact that Kaplan pays for security on off days
when they hold classes at Prep, as well as being able to utilize Prep facilities for free. There
are also early bird discounts. In addition to classes, there are many opportunities to take free
practice tests. All in all, Prep students pay as much as $200 less for the full priced program.
The results are obvious, given Prep students have consistently scored above both New York
State and National means for all three categories, verbal, math, and writing.
This is one of the many significant efforts on the part of Prep’s Guidance department. Last
fall, they were recognized by the Middle States Association of Colleges and School as they
earned Middle States’ Program of Distinction in School Counseling. According to the Middle
States website, “The School Counseling Program of Distinction recognizes schools with a
comprehensive and coherent school counseling program, which features counselors who

advocate for ensuring equity in student access to all the school's educational opportunities.”
