Cops searching for man
who broke into two
Kew Gardens homes
Police are looking for a man who
broke into two homes in Kew Gardens
earlier this month.
On Sunday, Oct. 11, around 4 a.m.,
the 37-year-old resident of a home near
Leff erts Boulevard and Metropolitan
Avenue, went down to his basement
storage unit to fi nd that some of his
property was missing, cops said.
The man
called the
police, who
later reviewed
security footage
to fi nd that
an unidentifi
ed man had
broken into
the basement
around 1:30
a.m., earlier
that night,
according to
the NYPD.
Th e man stole
about $100
worth of power
tools and fl ed
on foot in an
u n k n o w n
direction.
About an
hour later, the
man broke into
the basement
of a residential
building located
near Talbot
Street and
84th Avenue,
according to
the police. Th e
man, who was
caught on surveillance
cameras entering the basement,
took an unknown amount of property
and fl ed on foot, cops said.
Th e theft wasn’t discovered until
Tuesday, Oct. 13, when a 52-year-old
woman who lived in the building went
to the storage unit and discovered some
of her property was missing.
Police describe the man as being
between 40 and 50 years old.

Cops seek thief who snatched
man’s phone in Long
Island City train station
Police are on the hunt for a thief who
stole a 55-year-old man’s cellphone in a
Long Island City subway station earlier
this week.
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, around 2 p.m., a
55-year-old man was waiting for the R
train at the Queens Plaza subway station,
according to the NYPD.
Suddenly, an unidentified man
approached him and snatched the
55-year-old’s cellphone out of his hands,
police said. Th e thief then ran out of the
station, heading eastbound on Queens
Boulevard, cops said.
Th e unidentifi ed man was last seen
wearing a white mask, a white longsleeved
shirt, a black tank top, blue
jeans and black shoes, according to the
NYPD.

Four teens assault Flushing
smoke shop employee after
attempting to rob store: NYPD
Th e NYPD is looking for four teens who
assaulted an employee of a tobacco shop in
Flushing aft er they were caught trying to
rob it last month.
On Monday, Sept. 21, around 4:30 p.m.,
four unidentifi ed individuals walked into
Romain Smoke Shop, located at 40-02 Main
St., in Flushing, according to the NYPD.
Once inside, the four teens began to steal
items from the store shelves, cops said.
Spotting the alleged thievery, a 37-yearold
employee at the smoke shop confronted
them, according to the police. At this
point, one of the teens took out a large
fl ashlight and used it to hit the employee in
the head, causing him to bleed, according
to the NYPD.
Th e four teens ran out of the shop and
into the nearby Flushing-Main Street subway
station, cops said. Th e employee was
taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens
Hospital in stable condition.
No arrests have been made and the investigation
is ongoing.
