Driver strikes and kills elderly
man in Glendale: NYPD
A 78-year-old man died early Th ursday
morning aft er being hit by a driver in
Glendale.
On Th ursday, Aug. 27, around 8:15
a.m., a 74-year-old driver of a tan 2007
Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling westbound
on Central Avenue, according
to the NYPD. As he approached 69th
Place, the driver hit Edward Meissner,
who was walking across Central Avenue,
cops said.
Meissner, who lived in Woodhaven,
was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical
Center by EMS personnel. Th e 78-yearold
was pronounced dead at the hospital,
according to the NYPD.
Th e driver of the car remained at the
scene following the collision, cops said.
No arrests have been made and the
investigation is ongoing.

Man dies in hospital a
month after being shot in
Long Island City: NYPD
A month aft er being shot in Long
Island City, a 53-year-old man has
died from complications from his gunshot
wound, police announced on
Wednesday.
George Rosa was blocks away from
his Long Island City home on July 25,
when he was shot in front of 21-19 40
Ave., around 11:20 a.m., according to
the NYPD.
Police arrived to the scene to fi nd Rosa
with a gunshot wound to his torso, cops
said. EMS personnel transported Rosa to
Elmhurst Hospital, where he was treated
for his injury until Aug. 25, when he was
pronounced deceased.
No arrests have been made and the
investigation is ongoing.

Man steals $700 from Chinese
restaurant in Flushing: NYPD
Th e NYPD is looking for a man who
burglarized a Chinese seafood restaurant
in Flushing earlier this month.
On Sunday, Aug. 16, around 2:30 p.m.,
an unidentifi ed man broke into New
Mulan Seafood Restaurant, located at
136-17 39 Ave., through an unlocked
back door, according to the NYPD.
Once he was inside, the man allegedly
stole $700 from the cash register and
then fl ed in an unknown direction, cops
said.Th
e man is described as being around
5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing around 140
pounds, with brown eyes, according to
the police. He was last seen wearing a
blue t-shirt, gray scarf, blue jeans and
black sneakers.
