Zip line for free at Queens Adventure Course

Enjoy a free day of family fun at a
Douglaston park this weekend.
Alley Pond Park’s Adventure Course,
the only public outdoor ropes course in
New York City, is celebrating 10 years by
throwing a free anniversary extravaganza
on Saturday, July 29.
Attendees ages 8 and over are invited to
try out the course’s most popular attraction,
the zip line, for free. Th ere will also
be music, popcorn, balloons and other
free giveaways and prizes.
Th e event will begin at 10 a.m. and end at
2 p.m. Arrive early, as space is limited. One
zip line ride will be allowed per person.
Th e Alley Pond Park Adventure Center
is located in the southern section of the
park, across from the soccer fi elds. Th e
Adventure Course consists of low and
high ropes courses and tests groups’ or
individuals’ physicality, intellect and
problem-solving skills. It also features a
climbing and bouldering wall, trust fall
station, swings, nets, leaps and balance
platforms and, of course, the zip line.

Ready to go to college
Some Hillcrest High School seniors are

to this fall. College adviser Nicole Conforti
set up this event to encourage students to
send in their acceptances as a big moment
in their lives. Students came together in the
offi ce with balloons and had refreshments.

Before the school year ended last year, the Benjamin Franklin High School for Finance and Information Technology held its second-annual National Honor Society induction ceremony in the Campus
Magnet auditorium in Cambria Heights. Strict academic requirements are required to be a member. The society’s advisor is Michelle Yacoub.
