Cops search for Dodge
Durango driver suspected for
shooting two men in Jamaica
Th e NYPD is searching for the driver
of a Dodge Durango in connection to the
shooting of two men in Jamaica last week.
Police say that during the evening of
Monday, June 14, an unidentifi ed man
driving the “possibly gray” vehicle pulled
over at the corner of 160th Street and
107th Avenue and fi red several shots.
Th e shots struck a 22-year-old man
multiple times in his torso and a 59-yearold
man once in the left hand.
Th e driver fl ed in an unknown direction
as the shooting victims were transported
to Jamaica Hospital by private means,
according to the NYPD.
Both victims were listed in stable condition
and there were no other injuries at
the scene, police said.
No arrests have been made and the
investigation is ongoing.

Police searching for
suspect in Long Island
City gas station robbery
Police from the 108th Precinct in Long
Island City are searching for a man
in connection with a robbery over the
weekend.
Th e unidentifi ed suspect entered the
market of a gas station on the southern
edge of the Sunnyside Yards around
2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, and
approached the counter. He produced
a $1 bill with a note written on it that
demanded cash and threatened violence
for noncompliance, police said.
Th e 19-year-old clerk manning the
register in the market, located at 31-05
Queens Blvd. near the intersection of
Skillman Avenue, complied and the man
fl ed with the demand note and a bag
containing $250.
Th ere were no injuries, according to
the NYPD. Th e light-skinned man was
wearing a dark T-shirt with dark jeans
and dark sneakers.

NYPD searching for
suspect in two anti-Muslim
assaults in Queens
Th e NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is
searching for a man in connection with
anti-Muslim assaults in Richmond Hill
and Jamaica on Sunday, June 20.
Th e fi rst assault occurred around 1:15
p.m. as the unidentifi ed man followed
a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old
woman in the vicinity of Liberty Avenue
and Leff erts Boulevard while shouting
anti-Muslim slurs.
Th e suspect proceeded to punch the
man in the back, then grabbed the woman’s
hijab and punched her on the arm,
police said. Both the victims sustained
pain and redness but refused medical
attention.
About an hour later, the man followed
a 64-year-old man and a 56-year-old
woman in the vicinity of 105 Inwood
Ave. near Liberty Avenue.
In this assault, the suspect punched the
woman several times in the face and head
before fl eeing, police said.
Th e woman sustained pain, redness,
small lacerations to the head and face as
well as a fractured nose. EMS responded
and transported the woman to Jamaica
Hospital where she was listed in stable
condition, according to the NYPD.
In a statement regarding the attacks,
Ahmed Mohamed, legal director at
CAIR-NY, a national Muslim advocacy
and civil liberties group, said they are
praying for the “victims’ speedy recovery
and for the apprehension and prosecution
of the assailant.”
“We are disturbed that people going
about their daily lives are being randomly
attacked because of anti-Muslim hate.
It is absolutely disgusting. Bias incidents
targeting Muslims and members of other
minority communities are sadly on the
rise. Every person deserves to feel safe to
walk around Queens — which is supposed
to be the ‘World’s Borough,’” Mohamed
said. “We hope offi cials will condemn
these Islamophobic attacks and show solidarity
with the Muslim community.”
Mohamed called on elected offi cials to
support community-based organizations
that support and provide services for victims
of hate.
Th e suspect in the attacks was seen on
surveillance video, according to police.
He was described by investigators as a
man with a beard, wearing a dark blue
jacket, black pants, a dark blue durag and
red sneakers.
