Yet another high-rise hotel schedule to rise on a Long Island City warehouse site

A new hotel will soon rise in Long
Island City, adding to the many new and
existing developments in this burgeoning
Queens neighborhood.
Last week, the city Department of
Buildings approved developer Dun Zhang’s
permit request for a 15-story hotel. Th e 385-
room hotel will replace a one-story warehouse

Th e application lists Gene Kaufman
as the architect of this planned hotel. In
addition to this project, the architect is
also involved with other Long Island City
developments including a 13-story hotel
at 38-39 Ninth St. and 142-key hotel at
38-04 11th St. Developer Sam Chang fi led
permits for these upcoming Queens projects
in May 2018.
According to an analysis by Th e Real
Deal, there have been 45 new hotels built
in Long Island City since 2010, making
popular waterfront neighborhood the
number one location for hotels in the
outer boroughs.
Th e same report noted that the other
Queens neighborhoods where developers
are choosing to build are Jamaica,
with 26 new hotels and Flushing with 12
new hotels.
